The Brahmaputra-Jamuna has started falling at up-stream. The Dharla and the Teesta are in falling trend. The flood situation in the districts of Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Rangpur and Bogra is likely to remain static and hopefully may start improving from tomorrow. The Ganges-Padma also continued rising at all points FLOOD, RAINFALL AND RIVER SITUATION SUMMARY (as on JULY 30, 2007) FLOOD OUTLOOK • The Brahmaputra-Jamuna has started falling at up-stream (Noonkhawa & Chilmari) points while it continued rising at down-stream points (Bahadurabad, Serajganj & Aricha) and is flowing 56 cm, 75 cm, 88 cm, 112 cm & 100 cm above danger level at Noonkhawa, Chilmari, Bahadurabad, Serajganj & Aricha respectively. • The river is likely to start falling at Bahadurabad & Serajganj by the next 24 hrs and at Aricha by next 48 hrs. • The Dharla and the Teesta are in falling trend and are flowing 54 cm above danger level at Kurigram. • The flood situation in the districts of Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Rangpur and Bogra is likely to remain static and hopefully may start improving from tomorrow whereas the situation in the districts of Jamalpur, Serajganj, Pabna & Tangail is still deteriorating and expected to start improving by next 2/3 days. • The Ganges-Padma also continued rising at all points is flowing 122 cm & 78 cm above danger level at Goalundo and Bhagyakul respectively. The river is likely to rise further at the same rate for next 24 hrs and at a lower rate for next 48 & 72 hrs. The river is likely to rise further and inundation of low-lying areas in the districts of Narshingdi, Brahmanbaria and Narayanganj will further continue. • Small rivers surrounding Dhaka and Narayanganj continued rising and are likely to approach danger levels in the next 1/2 days except the Buriganga which is flowing 82 cm below danger level this morning. • Low lying areas in the eastern part of Dhaka city is likely to inundate further. • The prevailing flash flood situation in the north-eastern districts Netrokona, Sunamganj and Sylhet is likely to start improving.
