Welcome to our comprehensive Fine Wine Catalogue! As imported wine first started to flow into New Zealand in the early 80’s, Glengarry led the way. We pioneered Bordeaux En Primeur here with the stunning 1982 Vintage, and have been blazing that trail ever since. In the process we’ve accumulated a wealth of experience and understanding as to what, and what not, to do. All of our wines are shipped by our well-established distribution lines in secure, temperature controlled containers to ensure they arrive in the best condition. Over the years we have put in the hard-yards to search out the greatest fine wines from all corners of the world. We continue to be New Zealand’s leading importer of Bordeaux, and have the greatest collection of Champagne in the country. We are delighted to be able to welcome you to this extensive collection, all neatly catalogued in this comprehensive Glengarry Fine Wine Catalogue. As stocks come and go regularly, an updated edition of the Catalogue is available from our website. The date of update indicated on the bottom of the page. I know you’ll enjoy perusing the pages of this Fine Wine Catalogue and look forward to seeing you at one of our Fine Wine Tastings soon. Regards, Liz Wheadon General Manager GLENGARRY FINE WINE TEAM France Alsace Gisselbrecht Alsatian Pinot Gris is an entirely different breed to the New Zealand versions of this intriguing, pink-skinned variety. While some of our local offerings can perhaps hint at the delights on offer from Alsace, it is producers like Gisselbrecht who know how to deliver the complexity and astounding richness that the grape is capable of. They have a bit of an advantage, their family having made wine in Alsace since the 1600’s. Indeed, they know their 17 hectares intimately. Great Alsatian aromatic wines like the ones produced by Gisselbrecht tend to be thickly textured expressions of their respective grape varieties, a thrilling collision of honeyed richness and flinty minerality, the result of a unique terroir and an attention to detail that only centuries of tradition can deliver. PLU Brand Name Vintage Retail 47013 GISSELBRECHT GEWURZ VENDAGES TARDIVES 2008 $74.99 Vendange Tardive means late harvest, so we’re talking about serious concentration and intensity of flavours, with said wines some of Alsace’s most glorious. This sumptuous Gewürztraminer exudes a hedonistic, almost explosive bouquet of honeyed exotica (guava, lychee, candied fruit), riding a palate that’s wonderfully lush and silky. Superb. 47024 GISSELBRECHT GRAND CRU FRANKSTEIN PINOT GRIS 2013 $43.99 This is Grand Cru, off the famed Frankstein vineyard. It’s a supremely rich and elegant wine with a smoky, exotic character and spicy, honeyed, floral-tinged flavours. Superb drinking. PLU Brand Name Vintage Retail 46510 JOSMEYER GEWURZTRAMINER GRAND CRU HENGST 2010 $89.00 92/100 | Stephen Tanzer 46508 JOSMEYER GRAND CRU BRAND RIESLING 2015 $89.00 46514 JOSMEYER GRAND CRU HENGST GEWÜRZTRAMINER 2008 $99.00 90/100 | Robert Parker: "Harboring nearly as much residual sugar as the corresponding Archenets, but packing 14.5% alcohol, the Josmeyer 2008 Gewurztraminer Hengst nevertheless retains a critical measure of primary juiciness. Pink grapefruit, orange rind, rose petal, caraway, and cinnamon pungently scent the nose and – along with quince jelly – unctuously envelope the palate. Crystallized ginger and candied citrus rind, enhance the sense of pungency in the sweet yet still subtly refreshing finish. This should be worth following for 15-20 years." - David Schildknecht 46531 JOSMEYER LE FROMENTEAU PINOT GRIS 2011 $56.00 88/100 | Stephen Tanzer: "Musky aromas of quinine, mint and earth. Fairly dense on the palate, with a rather laid-back quality to the lemon and smoke flavors. A bit sweet and rich for a Josmeyer pinot gris, in need of some more definition." 46505 JOSMEYER LES PIERRETS RIESLING 2014 $59.00 Warm and aromatic hints of ripe Bosc pear pervade the aromatics of this wine. The palate has a rounded, ripe feel but remains beautifully slender, expressing more of that pear fruit now highlighted by citrus freshness. It's a very balanced, dry wine with a clean finish. 46530 JOSMEYER PINOT GRIS HENGST 2007 $102.00 16/20 | Jancis Robinson: "A balancing act of acidity and sweetness with notes of orange peel, stone fruit, apricot, honey and botrytis." 46529 JOSMEYER PINOT GRIS HENGST 2010 $89.00 46511 JOSMEYER RIESLING GRAND CRU HENGST 2015 $89.00 A somewhat dry style ( just a hint of residual sugar ) yet very exotic and fragrant, showing rose, apricot, smoke and mineral aromas and flavors on an open, rich and broad - shouldered structure. Fine concentration and length.
