The Bakerloo line suffered with severe delays due to multiple signal failures in the Marylebone – Edgware Road area. UKPN cable fires are seen at street level along Kingsway. 15.20 – Category 1 incident declared. Network Operations Manager as Silver. 15.28 – Smoke seen to emanate from manhole covers. 15.35 – Piccadilly DSM to Covent Garden to assist. 15.34 – NIRM on site. 15.51 – All emergency service silver controls in place. 15.55 – LFB advise that investigation centres on two service tunnels (not LU). 15.56 – Temple station closed, no OPO monitors and Fire Panel actuating. 16.12 – SRT dispatching staff to Chancery Lane to be used by local stations as appropriate. 16.15 – NIRM now Silver. 16.28 – Piccadilly DRM to be based at Covent Garden, to maintain watching brief. 16.31 – JNP Incident Engineer to undertake investigations re Aldwych disused tunnels over the course of the evening. 16.34 – Temple station open. District DRM on site. One phase lost and electrician will remain on site to reset equipment once the fire alert issue is contained. 16.45 – Electricians undertaking testing of Holborn station electrical circuits. 17.09 – Area of cable fire identified. UKPN and LFB tackling the fire. NIRM working with station team and Electricians to establish the readiness of the station to open. 17.25 – All local stations local to Holborn contacted, no additional customer issues reported. SRT to keep staff at Chancery Lane pending further requirements. 17.50 – Incident Engineer en route to Aldwych disused to check station. 17.55 – All escalators confirmed as working. Cordon for the fire now includes station entrance thus station remains closed. 18.20 – Generator being sourced to supply power overnight. 18.30 – Aldwych station check completed, no issues reported. 19.13 – Station open. Cordon reduced to allow the High Holborn exit to be used. NIRM liaising with emergency service silver to arrange for the station exits to be fully open 19.27 – Category 1 stood down. 21.46 – Bakerloo line OPO monitors at Charing Cross lose power and the platforms have to be staffed until contractors reset MCBs at 22.43. 22.27 – Bond Street station PA loses power and the station closes, with Central and Jubilee line trains non-stopping until contractors arrived and reset power feed MCBs at 23.34 Recovery 19.13 – Holborn station open. Immediate Cable fire in the Kingsway area at street level. Holborn and Temple closed in consequence due to cause & loss various electrical circuits. resolution Incident Site Further power disruption experienced by Charing Cross and Bond Street later in the evening Subsequent A visual inspection of the Aldwych (disused) running tunnel by APJNP confirmed no consequential Actions damage.
