General earth moving, Camino del Tala works and construction of the landfill at the mill site are proceeding • Temporary housing works continue in Paso de los Toros, Pueblo Centenario, and Durazno city • Dredging and filling works at the specialized pulp terminal in Montevideo´s port continue. Construction of the embankment began according to the plan • ANDRITZ to supply complete pulp mill to UPM in central Uruguay. 5 | © UPM ANDRITZ to supply complete pulp mill to UPM in central Uruguay • UPM has selected technology group ANDRITZ to supply energy-efficient and environmentally leading equipment and processes for all main process islands in fiber production and chemical recovery for its new pulp mill. • The scope of supply includes a complete wood processing plant, the world’s largest single-line Fiberline, including state-of-the-art continuous cooking with efficient heat recovery and unique washing and bleaching technology, all contributing towards high-quality pulp, highest operational time, and low chemical consumption, thus having lowest environmental impact. • A new and innovative pulp drying system, an energy-efficient black liquor evaporation plant, in addition to a recovery boiler features energy-efficient flue gas cooling and feed water preheating technologies to maximize steam production for power generation. • ANDRITZ will also supply a biomass Power Boiler and a complete white liquor plant. • ANDRITZ also supplied a complete pulp mill in Fray Bentos, Uruguay, which was started up successfully in 2007. 6 | © UPM Installation of the first housing blocks for construction workers • Installation of housing blocks in Charrúa neighborhood (Paso de los Toros) is progressing. Around 1,000 workers will be accommodated by the end of March • Construction of the permanent houses continues in Paso de los Toros and will start soon in Pueblo Centenario. Once the mill construction phase is finalized, 60 permanent houses will be transferred to the State • Construction of temporary housing solutions will start soon in Carlos Reyles community.
