The event featured a conversation with past California governors Gray Davis, Pete Wilson, George Deukmejian, and Jerry Brown, and was moderated by Los Angeles NBC Channel 4's Colleen Williams. NBC aired a full one hour re-broadcast of the event on Saturday, July 30. Bank of America Executive Vice President Rod Banks, Chairman of the LAEDC, described the event as a part of an effort by LAEDC to address major issues affecting the Southern California region. Banks also cited the formation by LAEDC of its Southern California Leadership Council, stating, "The Southern California Leadership Council, a group of dedicated business and community leaders, will team with the LAEDC and our Center of Economic Development to work with the past four governors. This 'dream team', some of the best and brightest in our state, will join forces to solve enormous regional problems-- the kind of problems that fall outside the realm of usual county and city jurisdictions, like transportation, energy, and tourism, the kind that span the entire geography of Southern California. "We're going to take on these issues, one by one, with great thoughtfulness and competency," continued Banks. "I know that with the kind of team LAEDC has formed--with their knowledge, experience, and passion--we will accomplish whatever we set out to do to improve the region's economic vitality and quality of life." .
