Longzhudian Temple located in our community is known as a venue dedicated to worshiping Diaocao Ong Yah and other deities related to maritime culture. Since 1995, we hâve held nine sessions of thé Ong Chun Ceremony. Représentatives of relevant temples from Xiamen, Zhangzhou, Taiwan, Melaka hâve involved in each session of thé Ceremony, thereby thé mutual understanding and sensé of identity among people inside and outside thé Community hâve been enhanced through keeping in-depth exchange during thé process of thé common ritual practice. " Huazang'an Temple, commonly called "Lyucuo Ong Yah Gong Temple, " is thé main space for thé worship of Ong Yah in thé community. Ong Yah belief in Lyucuo is well-known and influential. For instance, Huazang'an Temple has 240 fenlus (temple branches) distributed elsewhere and brings over ten thousand pilgrims together per year from Xiamen, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, and Taiwan. As a typical représentative of Ong Chun Ceremony, thé one held in Lyucuo with its large- scale, covering a long time-span and attracting nearly 100, 000 participants. Gak Hui was a gréât général paù-iotic to thé country but murdered by Zin Gué (Qin Hui), thé treacherous officiai. Villagers believed that Yue Fei was posthumously promoted by thé Jade Emperor to be Gak Ong Yah, or Commissioner appointed by thé Heaven for thé regular visit of inspection; he not only inspects thé secular world to reward thé good andpunish thé evil, but also has thé power to transcend thé soûls of thé deceased persons who lost their lives at seas. Therefore, local people also respect him as thé guardian of thé navigation. Ong Chun Ceremony is held in our village once a year, to pray to Gak Ong Yah for thé safety of fishermen, as well as good harvest, thé peace, prosperity and well-being of thé community. Having been informed of thé joint-nomination by China and Malaysia for inscription of Ong Chun Ceremony on thé Représentative List of Intangible Cultural Héritage of Humanity, members of our community are ail in an agreement to support this nomination.
