Overview of Production of Recordings and Digital Music Sales in 2013 In 2013, the total production value of recorded music (audio and music videos) decreased 13% versus the previous year to 270.5 billion yen while unit production in this segment also registered a double-digit decline with a year-on-year decrease of 15% to 247.7 million units. At the same time, sales of digital music were down 23% from the previous year to 41.7 billion yen, with the total value of recorded music and digital music sales falling 15% year-on-year to 312.1 billion yen in a reversal of the first increase in five years posted in the previous year.
