SPE Annual Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition Challenges and Changes 1–3 November 2016 / Palace of Independence, Astana, Kazakhstan CONFERENCE PROGRAMME Host Organisation Platinum Sponsor Supporting Partners Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan www.spe.org/go/16ctce Welcome From the Co-Chairs Dear Colleague, As conference co-chairs, and on behalf of the Conference Executive and Technical Programme Committees, we thank you for attending the SPE Annual Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition (CTCE). This year’s theme — Challenges and Changes — focuses on the current market conditions facing the oil and gas industry, both globally and on a local level. Since the inaugural event in November 2014, the global oil and gas industry has been experiencing a prolonged period of lower oil prices, which has put the spotlight on the commercial viability of all oil and gas projects around the world. The technical challenges of extracting oil and gas in the Caspian, and increasing maturity of many fields, has meant that the downturn in global oil prices has hit the region particularly hard. The focus now is on cost efficiency, and how technical innovation can be leveraged to improve oil recovery factors, reduction in exploration costs and the identification and extraction of more complex and deeper reserves. CTCE will provide a platform for local, regional and international experts to discuss these topics and bring you a programme made up of 3 keynote panel sessions, 12 technical sessions involving debate and 50+ research-based presentations with the intention of exchanging knowledge, best practice and experience. With the support of a broad range of key stakeholders in the Caspian energy industry, including the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KAZENERGY, PSA, our host KMG and the largest oil and gas players in the Caspian, including ExxonMobil, NCOC, Chevron and TCO, to name a few, the third SPE annual Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition will provide the perfect platform to discuss topics relevant to maintaining and boosting technological advancements and developments in the region. We hope that you take the opportunity to meet and network with old and new colleagues, discover new technologies and insights into the industry, engage in debate, and share your experiences.
