Motorway Route: Take the E78 towards Rapolano Terme/Perugia. At Bettolle, exit and travel on the A1 going south towards ROMA. Exit at CHIUSI-CHIANCIANO TERME, after paying the toll (they accept credit cards). Follow the road 100 mt and turn left, in the direction of SARTEANO. When you arrive in Sarteano (6.7 km from the toll booth), go straight through the roundabout. After passing the only traffic light in town and after 200 mt, turn left towards CASTIGLIONCELLO DEL TRINORO. (More details are in the Autostrada directions above). Drive towards the center of the village and take the little road up on the right, following the square, wooden “Monteverdi” signs. You will find the Concierge on your right; please stop in front of the office and our staff will take care of you! Scenic Route, for the adventurous driver: Take the SS2 (or SR2) CASSIA south out of SIENA. Keep following signs for ROMA. The road winds through the Tuscan countryside, passing the towns of Monteroni, Buonconvento, and Torrenieri. After 40 km, you will reach the town of SAN QUIRICO D’ORCIA. Approximately 5 km after San Quirico, turn left onto the SP53 and follow the signs towards Chianciano (if you reach the turn to BAGNO VIGNONI, you have gone too far!). Follow this road straight through a 4-way intersection and follow the signs towards CHIANCIANO. After 5km from the intersection, go underneath an overpass. Take the left ramp that will take you to the road that goes towards La Foce. (Follow signs for the A1 Autostrada and CHIANCIANO). The road begins to wind up the hill. After 4 km, you’ll see the restaurant DopoLavoro La Foce on your left. After passing the restaurant, turn right at the first street on your right. You will see a brown sign that say “Loc. After another 1.8 km, you will find a large, rectangular sign that says “Attenzione. Strada di Montagna, Procedere con cautela”. It is a sign that invites drivers to be cautious, and the road becomes steep and a bit rough at times. DO NOT turn right towards Torre Tarugi! After another 1.3 km, you will find the same warning sign. This is another tricky point if you use a GPS: Do NOT turn right. Travel another 1.6 km and you will see the parking area for CASTIGLIONCELLO on your right. Do not enter the parking lot, but continue on this road as you will need to go around Castiglioncello for 500 mt. as the roads in Castiglioncello are one-way. Turn right into Castiglioncello, towards the center of the village. At a fork, take the little road up on the right, following the square, wooden “Monteverdi” signs. You will find the Concierge on your right; please stop in front of the office and our staff will take care of you!
