A sumptuous and sensual tale of intrigue, romance and betrayal set against the backdrop of a defining moment in European history. The film is about the sisters, Anne Boleyn (Natalie Portman) and Mary Boleyn (Scarlett Johansson), who are both fighting for the affection of King Henry VIII (Eric Bana). Although initially reluctant to become Henry's mistress, Mary comes to fall for the King, while Anne is only interested in securing her own status. Their father, Sir Thomas Boleyn, and uncle, the Duke of Norfolk, engineer the sisters' coming to Henry's attention in the first place, capitalizing on his dissatisfaction with his wife, Catherine of Aragon, who has failed to bear him a living son. “The Other Boleyn Girl” is the 2008 film adaptation of the novel of the same title by British author Philippa Gregory and a remake of a BBC television film of the same name also based on Philippa Gregory's novel. The film was directed by Justin Chadwick from a script by Peter Morgan (who also wrote a two-part television drama on Henry VIII in 2003). Doors open at 7.30pm and the performance starts at 8.00 pm. Tickets are priced at £4 with a concession of £3.00 for OAP (60 and over). Tickets are available from the Liphook Millennium Centre 01428 723889, Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council Office 01428 722988, and on the door. Tickets can also be ordered by email [email protected] for collection and payment on the night. A bar will be open and a range of refreshments will be on sale. The film is classified as 12A; suitable for 12 years and over. No-one younger than 12 may see a “12A” film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. The Cinema Licence for the Liphook Millennium Hall requires that children under the age of 15 can only be admitted if accompanied by an adult. 30 June 2008 .
