We were unable to come to terms on a new lease with our landlord, Armco Capital. So the Hall, which had been located in the old Trade Centre for the past 15 years, closed its doorsT on Sept. 30th. An extensive search is on for a new home, and we fully intend to emerge from this as the finest Hall of its kind in the country. In the meantime, the Hall will exist virtually at nsshf.com, where all artifacts, inductees, programming and updated staff contact info can be found. The Hall will continue to offer its award-winning “Future Hall of Famers” education program to students across the province. And the annual Induction Night is scheduled to return in November of 2021. We will continue to honour and preserve the legacies of Nova Scotians who have made significant contributions to sport in the province. And we will make sure these stories are told to Nova Scotia youth, so that they may see what can be accomplished with hard work and a healthy dose of humility. This tour is now a Handpicked Halifax experience with Discover Halifax. • The Hall of Fame unveiled a new temporary exhibit in summer 2019 that featured a selection of editorial cartoonist Bruce MacKinnon’s greatest sport cartoons. The exhibit of original sports-themed cartoons from MacKinnon’s many years at The Chronicle Herald is titled “Sports Illustrated: The Nova Scotia Edition.” The exhibit will be travelling in 2021 and will be on display at STFX University’s Art Gallery from late April to early September. • From May 22 to June 12, 2020, 72 participants got busy walking, running and moving in “Victory Lap,” the Hall of Fame’s first-ever virtual fun run.
