The titles are entered under the first word, excluding the article and with the exception of forenames, and also under any other key-word appearing in the title. In title entries the author’s name is given in round brackets after the title. Additionally, any substantial mention of a person in the text of an article is indexed under the name followed by the title in italic type. Illustrations and particularly portraits are noted. Where the subject of portraits included in an article are not named in the title, the names are given in square brackets after the reference to ports.
