The victory gave the Vols their Phil Steele All-SEC Second Team first winning season since 2009 as Tennessee closed Phil Steele Freshman All-American Team the campaign with a 7-6 record in Butch Jones’ second ESPN’s True Freshman All-American Team season on Rocky Top. All-SEC Associated Press Second Team All-SEC Coaches Second Team The win came in Tennessee’s 50th bowl game, Freshman All-SEC Team fourth-most of any program in college football history 247Sports Freshman All-American as the Vols are now 26-24 overall in postseason. The 26 Scout Freshman All-American wins are the sixth-most of any program all-time. Grantland National Rookie Of Year Tennessee scored its most points in a bowl since SEC Defensive Lineman Of The Week (11/17) beating Michigan 45-17 in the 2002 Citrus Bowl. The 45 points are the second-most in a bowl in Tennessee Joshua Dobbs history. The six touchdowns scored by the Vols ties the TaxSlayer Bowl MVP school record for most touchdowns in a bowl game, Athlon Sports National Player of The Week (11/2) previously set on three occasions at the 1994 Gator SEC Offense Player Of The Week (11/3) 247Sports National Performer Of Week (11/3) Bowl, 1997 Citrus Bowl and the 2002 Citrus Bowl. Manning Award Star Of Week (11/3) Quarterback Joshua Dobbs completed his first College Hall of Fame Performer Of Week (11/5) seven pass attempts of the game and finished 16- Manning Award Quarterback Of Week (11/6) of-21 for 129 yards with one passing touchdown. He Manning Award Star Of Week (11/17) also ran for 76 yards and an additional two scores on the ground. Dobbs finished with 205 total yards and Jacob Gilliam moved to 4-1 as the team’s starting quarterback this Associated Press All-Bowl Team season. Jalen Hurd After a stellar performance, Dobbs was named Campus Insiders Honorable Mention Freshman All-American the TaxSlayer Bowl MVP. With two rushing touch- SEC Freshman Of Week (9/8) downs, Dobbs became the first Tennessee quarterback to record multiple rushing touchdowns since Casey A.J. Johnson Clausen did so with two in the 2002 Citrus Bowl. All-SEC Honorable Mention (AP) Tailback Jalen Hurd ran for 122 yards, the most Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of Week (11/3) by a Vol in a bowl game since Travis Henry ran for 180 Preseason Coaches All-SEC First Team in the 2001 Cotton Bowl against Kansas State.
