MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR SAILORS, MARINES, AND THEIR FAMILIES Greetings from the Secretary of the Navy n behalf of all Sailors, Marines, and their Ofamilies, I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. Your selfless dedication and tireless commitment continue to make a positive impact on the mission readiness of our Naval Services. From the number of active duty and retired Sailors and Marines who received financial assistance, to the number of contacts made by visiting nurses to Navy and Marine Corps homes, the Society’s presence, day in and day out, around the globe, means our military leaders have an important partner to help address the financial well-being of our fighting forces. The Society’s mission is only accomplished through the generosity of donors because they appreciate military service, understand the sacrifices military families endure, and recognize that emergency situations are most likely to arise when a service member is deployed. Given this realization, donors, through their generous gifts, have always met the needs of active duty and retired Sailors and Marines facing financial hardships. It is your collective actions for which I am thankful. I am proud of the partnership, rich history, and tradition “...the Society’s presence, day we share with the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. in and day out, around the globe, means our military Sincerely, leaders have an impartant partner to help address the financial well-being of our fighting forces.” Ray Mabus BOARd OF dIRECTORS Admiral Jonathon W. Keeping faith means that we will ensure they have the support, services and infrastructure they need to live their lives and be ready to contribute to the overall mission of the Navy and Marine Corps. That mission requires our forces to be forward deployed and engaged, protecting the Nation's interests abroad. We must be the most ready when the Nation is least ready. As America's Expeditionary Force in Readiness, the Marine Corps takes great pride in the readiness and performance of our Marines and Sailors. The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society contributes directly to the readiness of our forces through the tireless efforts of its employees and volunteers. For 109 years, the Society has bridged the gap when our Marines, Sailors, and families needed financial assistance in getting through tough times. This assistance eases some of the burden of difficult times and allows our Marines and Sailors to focus on the mission at hand. In 2012, the Relief Society provided more than $41 Million dollars of support to our families, all made possible by the employees, countless volunteers and donors who graciously give their time and resources for the benefit of others. These thoughtful efforts contribute mightily to the Know that all who wear the Eagle, Globe and Anchor needs of today's Navy and Marine Corps Team. are deeply grateful for your fidelity to our Marines and Sailors.
