DO NOT worry about having zero experience, if you have the COMMITMENT to train - you can join us! ○ Liability Form This includes the following: (1) Your Physician’s approval for such an activity (2) Your emergency contact details, in case we need to contact someone ○ Fundraising Commitment Form ○ Link to create Team Asha fundraising page ○ Payment link for the registration fee - $50 (includes Asha T-shirt, represent our cause) Registration Process (contd…) ● More on Fundraising Commitment Form ○ $500 fundraising commitment ○ If deemed to be unfit (either through evaluation hike or injury), you commit to raise $250 ○ Last day to recommit your spot is March 30 ■ Any cancellations should be via email ■ We respect your choice ■ If needed we do work one-on-one to coach for better training results. ● Number of spots available ○ 10 participants ○ If we end up having more participants after March 30, we will do an evaluation and select individuals based on their performance. ○ This evaluation will be after a month of training and will be scaled accordingly ● More on non-selected participants, later... Fundraising - FAQ ● How does it work? ○ Your friends / colleagues / family appreciate your hard work ● Can I do it? ○ It's fairly easy with a little bit of dedication and time ● How do I do it? ○ Emails & face-to-face primarily. Social networking sites, blogs, signatures, phone-calls – you can be creative! ● Will I get help? ○ Yes, besides your profile webpage, we’ll give you email templates, talking points and other help ● Fundraising - Responsibility of the climber to track fundraising. ○ The balance will be charged to the card on file if the full amount isn’t raised by July end. Additional Support... ● Classroom Sessions ○ Gear ○ Snow Skills ○ Packing ○ Trip Briefing ● Training Hikes/Support ○ Most of the hikes on a weekend ■ Saturday or Sunday will be decided based on availability of the volunteer. ■ If volunteer is available on both days, then will be based on consensus of the participants ○ Guidance on off-trail training ○ Coaching on bi-weekly basis (through google hangout or phone, if one-on-one is needed) What you give Asha ● Your best effort to the training program. ● Your commitment to get in shape, acquire the required skills. ● Your commitment to raise funds for Asha Serious training commitment required Timeline ● Registrations Due - March 7 ● Introductory Online Session to Training and Immediate Gear Needs - March 7 ● Training Hikes - Starts on March 9 or 16 ● Snow Gear Online Session - March 29 ● Team shortlisted by April 15; if needed ● Overnight Preparation Online Session - April 24 ● Snow Skills Technical Theory - Online Session - April 30 ● Snow Skills Practice - May ● Payment and paperwork due by Jan 31 ● Final Evaluation - June ● Climb Mount Shasta - Late June/July (weather and snow condition dependent) Who is the contact person(s)? ● KD - Main contact ○ Started climbing activities with Asha, Seattle Chapter in 2016 ○ Climbed Mount Rainier, 5 times ○ Climbed Mount Baker, Shuksan, Winter Spires, Ingalls Peak, Eldorado and others alike in the Pacific Northwest. ○ Learning intermediate mountaineering skills at “The Mountaineers” and leading glaciated peaks for them. ○ Co-ordinator for both Seattle and Silicon Valley’s Climbing Programs. ○ Wilderness First Aid trained. ● Vaibhav ○ Our volunteer guide for taking participants on Mount Shasta, providing necessary skills and evaluating participants before the climb ○ He has been climbing since 2010 ○ Climbed Mount Rainier several times and others alike in the neighborhood ○ Wilderness First Aid trained.
