In 104 years of football history the BFA brings to you a home for football. One could only wish that so many great players who are not with us could witness the opening of the new administrative building. However, the BFA has not only made physical changes. As recent as August 30th, the constitution was revised at a special general meeting held at the Sir Garfield Sports Complex in Wildey. As a result, the Barbados Football Association will soon become an incorporated organization, which not only satisfies the requirements of FIFA but takes the governance of the Association to a new level. This year the association was able to enter several of our national teams in regional competitions. The senior women's team participated in the Caribbean leg of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers and for the first time ever in CONCACAF there was a Girls Under 15 tournament in which we competed. Our under 20 team participated in preliminary round of the FIFA World Cup and although they did not make it to the second round they remained unbeaten. However, the under 17 men's team made it to the second round of the Caribbean leg in the FIFA U17 World Cup qualifiers. In addition, it is with great joy to report that the senior men's team qualified for the round 2 in the CFU Cup. More exciting times are ahead as October promises to be an exciting month and the start to a new era in Barbados' football community. We feel honoured to be part of the Soccerex Americas forum to be held in Barbados on the 21st and 22nd of October. This is the biggest Soccerex expo in the world when the country welcomes a number of potential investors. The BFA is very happy to be a part of such a memorable event and hopes that this event will open doors for future success, not only for the game of football, but for the country on a whole. Soccerex as part of their contribution will be hosting a showcase, where players from the national U17 and U20 selection will be trying to impress top coaches in the hopes of getting chosen for trials professionally. 2 CFU TOURNAMENTS Barbados vs Bonaire Men’sCaribbeanCupRound1Group3 This match was simply a do or die for both teams as either side needed to win in order to qualify for round 2. But this game came down to who wanted it more. Barbados handed Bonaire a 4 - 1 thumping and sent them packing. Captain Emerson Boyce opened the scoring with a 55th minute strike, Romario Harewood slotted home a goal in the 67th and Mario Harte's double strike in the 74th and 76th minutes added insult to injury. Bonaire was able to salvage some pride as Yurick Sienpaul converted a penalty kick in the 90th. Round 2 takes place October 6th - 14th in which 16 teams will take part.
