Go Media Sep 8Th – 11Th, 2013

Go Media Sep 8th – 11th, 2013 Charlottetown, PEI Final Report Prepared by: Keith Small Business Development Manager DESTINATION LABRADOR INC. Go Media Final Report ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Overview 2013 was the 10th anniversary of the Canadian Tourism Commission’s premier annual media event. Go Media brings together Canadian media directors and representatives from a broad cross section of the Canadian tourism industry for opportunities to meet with media from the CTC’s key markets. Media guests represent travel and lifestyle journalists from print, electronic, and on-line consumer and travel publications. The purpose is to exchange the latest Canadian tourism information in a structured, professional setting consisting of scheduled, one-on-one appointments and related hospitality events. Participants also have the opportunity to take part in professional development sessions; with international media sharing tips and insights. This year’s event took place in Charlottetown, PEI from Sept 8th to the 11th. Destination Labrador partnered with 8 stakeholders for attendance at the event and engaged in 32 prescheduled “speed-dating” style meetings. While the discussions in those meetings would be primarily focused on discovering a possible story angle for the media person, partnered stakeholders would get first mention for inclusion in a project if an opportunity were identified. Event Activity During the show DL met with 32 individuals in prearranged “speed-dating” style meetings, lasting 13 minutes each (with 2 minutes between each meeting for media to move to their next appointment). Additionally, luncheons and evening social events provided plenty of opportunity to network with other media and industry colleagues from across the country. Following is a list of the individuals with whom DL met along with the market and type of media channels they typically utilize: Company Individual Primary Market Media Categories Utilized 4-Seasons Mag Ole Helmhausen German Internet, Magazine, Newspaper, Photography, Radio, Travel Guides Freelance Sandra Phinney Canadian Books, Internet, Magazine, Newspaper, Photography, Travel Guides Freelance Mark Stevens North American Magazine, Newspaper GEO Saison Karl Teuschl German Film/Video, Magazine, Photography, Travel Guides Freelance Chris Johns Canadian Books, Internet, Magazine, Radio, Television Kolner Stadt-Anzeiger Ralf Johnen German Internet, Magazine, Newspaper, Photography, Travel Guides get lost magazine Justin Jamieson Australian Internet, Magazine, Radio Sun Media & Canoe.ca Nicole Feenstra Canadian Internet, Newspaper Zoomer Magazine Jayne MacAulay Canadian Magazine Mallary on Travel Iain Mallary UK Internet, Photography, Travel Guides Canada.com Mark Stachiew Canadian Internet, Newspaper The Globe and Mail Domini Clark Canadian Internet, Newspaper Everything Everywhere Gary Arndt North American Internet, Photography Eat Drink Travel Magazine Lisa Jackson Canadian Books, Internet, Magazine, Newspaper, Travel Guides Toque & Canoe Kim Gray Canadian Internet, Magazine, Newspaper, Photography, Radio Freelance Tim Johnson Canadian Internet, Magazine, Newspaper Freelance Daniel Scott Australian & UK Internet, Magazine, Newspaper, Photography 2 | P a g e N o v 1 st, 2 0 1 3 DESTINATION LABRADOR INC.
