In the 32nd matchup between these two franchises, the Vikings are looking to improve their overall home record (12-3-0) against the Saints. In the 2011 home matchup against New Orleans, Minnesota saw their five (12-3-0) game home winning streak end after a 42-20 loss. Vikings linebacker coach Adam Zimmer coached with New Orleans during the 2009 season when the Saints defeated the Vikings in the NFC Championship game and went on to win the SB XLIV title. 9/17 at Pittsburgh 9-8-0 The Steelers with host the Vikings for the first time since 2009 when Minnesota fell to Pittsburgh at Heinz Field, 27-17. The Vikings hold the overall series lead, 9-8, and look to improve to .500 in road games against the Steelers. This year’s clash will (4-5-0) be Mike Zimmer’s first against the Steelers since leaving AFC North to lead the Vikings in 2014. Minnesota and Tampa Bay will square off for the 55th time in franchise history. This game will mark the 28th time the Vikings 9/24 Tampa Bay 32-22-0 have hosted the Buccaneers with club looking to end a three-game home losing streak to Tampa Bay. The Vikings last home victory against the Buccaneers came on Sept. 20, 2001 in a close 20-16 game. From 1977-2001 the teams were division rivals (18-9-0) in the old NFC Central, with the Vikings compiling a 31-17 record during that stretch. The Buccaneers are 5-1 in the team’s six matchups since the NFC Central was disbanded. 10/1 Detroit 71-38-2 In 2016, the Lions defeated the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium in the third overtime game between the two teams, with Detroit (39-15-1) holding a 3-0 record in those games. Lions K Matt Prater drilled a 58-yard field goal as time expired to send the game to overtime. 10/9 at Chicago 58-52-2 Week 5 will feature the 61st Monday Night Football game in Vikings franchise history and a Monday night rematch with division rival Chicago. The Vikings fell to the Bears on Halloween night in 2016, 20-10, to bring the team’s all-time record (22-31-2) against the Bears in Chicago to 22-31-2. 10/15 Green Bay 51-60-2 The Vikings will look to win back-to-back home matchups against the rival Packers in 2017, having defeated Green Bay 17-14 in the inaugural regular season game at U.S. Bank Stadium in 2016. With a victory, the all-time series in Minnesota would be (27-28-0) knotted at 28-28. 10/22 Baltimore 2-3-0 Minnesota will host Baltimore for the second time in franchise history. The Vikings are looking to stay undefeated against the (1-0-0) Ravens at home with their most recent matchup resulting in a 33-31 win on Oct. 18, 2009 at the Metrodome. The Vikings look to remain perfect in games played outside the United States in the franchise’s sixth international contest. 10/29 at Cleveland 11-4-0 Minnesota, which was part of the first-ever NFL game played in London (28-10 win over St. Louis in the 1983 preseason), holds an 11-4 series lead over Cleveland and has won four of the previous five meetings. Minnesota claimed a win, 34-27 (London) (4-2-0) over Pittsburgh at Wembley Stadium, during its most recent London trip (2013). Prior to the 2013 London trip, the team made four trips overseas for preseason games in the 1980s and 90s, (England 1983, Sweden ’88, Germany ’93, Japan ’94). The Vikings will return to the Nation’s Capital looking to even the overall series record, which stands at 12-13, including a 11/12 at Washington 12-13-0 6-7 mark when the Redskins host.
