As such they represent an open door for those who want to keep up with the latest in science and in the global job market. In addition to the programs, cabinets, laboratories offered at UMIB, a very important segment is the cooperation with public and private companies in the country. As a result, our students can do internships in companies that are related to the nature of their studies, quickly taking the step of new technology. Within our University, other mechanisms have already been created in the service of students, which also affect the increase of the quality of work and the preparation of new staff. The Innovation Center, the Alumni Association, the Career Development Center and the Advisory Board, which is constituted of businesses and university people, show a new approach to the university and students. Scientific conferences, which are already becoming traditional, have created an image of a scientific-research institution. While events, such as the "Career and Work Fair", are enriching the calendar of university activities and opening new paths for all of us. These steps have led UMIB in 2019 to rise by 4 thousand places in the ranking of world universities, for the first time UMIB is second in the country in the list of public universities. The new university campus has created great opportunities for everyone, whether as students or as teachers. This is a common path to success. Thank you! Prof. dr. Alush Musaj 3 History The foundations of higher education studies in Mitrovica were laid with the opening of the Technical High School in 1961. In 1970, within the Technical Faculty, the branches of Mining, Technology and Metallurgy were opened, in Mitrovica, the academic year 1970/71, to then continue in Prishtina until the establishment of the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy in Mitrovica in 1974. The Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy in Mitrovica was established by the Law on the Establishment of the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy by the Assembly of Kosovo on July 22, 1974. In the founding year, studies were organized in the following branches: Mining, Technology and Metallurgy, and in the academic year 1980/81 the branch of Geology was opened. The establishment of the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy was of great importance for the whole of Kosovo. It was the “Trepça” Mining and Metallurgical Plant that needed engineering staff from the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy. The cadres from the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy and the Technical High School have taken a deserved place in the Kosovo Power Plant, and the entire industry and economy of Kosovo. Students studying at the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy and the Technical High School were from all parts of Kosovo, considering that these branches were studied only in Mitrovica. Many students also came from other Albanian areas, from Macedonia and Presevo, Bujanovac, Medvedja, and Montenegro. Many foreign students enrolled and graduated from this faculty. Based on these faculties and based on the tradition of over 60 years of higher education in Mitrovica, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo on 06.03.2013 has established the Public University of Mitrovica, and the Assembly of Kosovo on May 31, 2013 has approved the decision. Based on the Interim Statute, approved by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, within the University of Mitrovica "Isa Boletini" (UMIB) operate six faculties: Faculty of Geosciences (FoG), Faculty of Food Technology ( FFT), Faculty of Mechanical and Computer Engineering (FMCE), Faculty of Law (FL), Faculty of Economics (FE) and Faculty of Education (FEdu). 5 Management Rector Prof. dr.
