Boughton 3 MUSEUM and PRESERVED AIRCRAFT IN AUSTRALIA Since this Society produced the first edition of this survey in 1968, there has been an increased awareness in the need to preserve aircraft for historical and educational purposes. This has resulted in additions to some collections, changes between various collections, and the establishment of new exhibits. At present none of these aircraft have cur rent certificates of airworthiness but a few are being restored with the view to licensing for demonstration purposes. There are many aircraft of historical Interest currently airworthy in Australia and several others which are being rebuilt for flying. These do not fall within the scope of this survey, while aircraft which are abandoned and/or derelict have similarly not been included as they have no definite future. Not all of the machines and equipment listed have been com pletely restored for display. The serial/registration listed is at present carried by the aircraft and in some cases might not be its actual identity (these machines are marked with an asterisk). Some machines listed are privately owned and are not on public display but may be available for viewing on request. It should be noted that aircraft built in Australia by the local De Havllland company have been listed as De Havilland (Aust.)
