(12 months) Version No. 1.0 Version Update Date 30/10/18 Entry Qualification Educational and/or 5th Standard pass, preferably Technical Qualification Required Block 1 Training After completing this programme, participants will be able to: Outcomes for Gardener Identify and use basic tools, equipment and materials: Course Effectively identify, select & use the specified tools and equipment relevant to gardening works. Prepare root stocks: Preparing root stocks for grafting, budding Layout and design the Garden component: Area Measurement and planning for the layout and design of garden. Proper landscaping. Maintain the Garden: identify and select the tools for Pruning, training, trimming and develop healthy Garden. Become well versed with Environment Health & Safety: Well versed with health and safety measures in terms of personal safety and others as well. Block II Training After completing this programme, participants will be able to: Outcomes for Gardener Carry out nursery management: identification of various Course plants/shrubs/trees, nursery bed preparation, vegetative propagation of plants, potting and repotting, transplanting, cultural operations Carry out pest and disease management: identification of pest and diseases, their control measures, spraying of chemicals Carry out tree plantation and maintenance of trees: use of garden tools and equipment, irrigation, integrated nutrient management, pruning and training Carry out maintenance of garden: various designs and features of garden, laying of lawn/turfs, topiary, pathways, pergolas, ground covers etc, proper disposal of waste, safe working practices Carry out packing and forwarding of planting material from nursery to distant places: selection of packaging materials, proper packing and labelling, etc. Note: 1 week has 40 hours of learning (8 hrs a day x 5 days a week). The training sessions may be held at training provider’s premises. Block II: This is a training block done at the Employer location. This is largely hands-on with inputs/ guidance provided by the on-site mentors and supervisors. The employer may conduct instructor-led sessions in classrooms/ workshops and may also look at new age – technology- based performance support tools for additional support. Gardener 4 Basic Training (Block I) General Information 1. Course Name: Gardener (AGR/Q0801) 2. QP Code with Version No. and QP Name: AGR/Q0801 V1.0, Gardener 3. NSQF Level: 4 4. Theory hours: 130 Hrs. 5. Practical hours: 170 Hrs. 6. Batch Size: 30 7. Power Norms: NA 8. Space Norms: 5000 sqft 9. Assessment: QP based assessment is conducted by an Assessment Agency as deputed by the respective Sector Skill Council. 10. Tools, Equipment, and Machinery required: As per Annexure I 11. Trainer Qualification: Trainer Prerequisites for Course: Gardener Sr. Area Details No. 1 Description Trainer is responsible for educating the trainees – Nursery Management, Designing, beautification of lawns and gardens for private Houses, Parks, and Hotels in order to attract customers. 2 Personal The individual should be able to demonstrate skills of designing, Attributes maintaining garden, use of various tools, communication skills, observation skills, practical oriented skills and decision making for instant problem solving. Trainer should be Subject Matter Expert. 3 Minimum Diploma Educational Qualifications 4a Domain Certified for Job Role: “Gardener” mapped to QP: “AGR/Q0801, v1.0”. Certification Minimum accepted score is 80%. 4b Platform Certified for the Job Role: “Trainer”, mapped to the Qualification Pack: Certification “MEP/Q0102”. Minimum accepted score is 80% 5 Experience • Post graduate(Horticulture/Agriculture/Botany) • Graduate(Horticulture/Agriculture/Botany) with 6 months of relevant work experience • Diploma with 3 years of relevant work experience • 10+2 with 5 years of relevant work experience Gardener 5 Curriculum Block I is aimed at training candidates for the course of a “Gardener”, in the “Agriculture & allied” Sector/Industry and aims at building the following key competencies amongst the learner.
