Leonardo Mobility 2013 Call – Project Summaries June 2013 Introduction This document contains short summaries of the 2013 Leonardo Mobility projects which are being represented at the Start-Up Seminar. The intention is to make it possible for you to identify projects relevant to your organisation, we hope this will provide you with an opportunity to exchange best practices and make invaluable contacts within your sector. To make it easier to find similar projects, at the start of the guide is a 2013 Project Index which lists projects grouped by vocational field. You can then find the project summaries listed alphabetically by organisation name. It is recommended that you consult this document prior to the 2013 Start- Up Seminar in order to maximise its potential and enable you to make the most out of your day. Accentuate (North East) Limited Graduate Employment Opportunities are Greater in Europe 2 PLM Previous LdV Mobility Projects Project Summary This proposal focuses on sending unemployed and underemployed university graduates, in either engineering or hospitality and tourism, currently residing in the North East of England, to a company in one of five European countries, to complete a thirteen week placement. The partners are intermediary organisations in Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the Czech Republic who have links to companies in either the tourism and hospitality sector, or in engineering and/or technology companies and can source the work placements. The purpose of the project is to tackle growing unemployment in the UK graduate market by equipping young qualified people with new skills and work experience in another European country. Project Representative: Stewart Deas Ashram Housing Association LTD The A Fund Project: Entrepreneurial skills for Young Entrepreneurs in Europe PLM New to LdV Mobility Project Summary This proposal is to send unemployed young people aged 18-30 from the Black Minority and Ethnic Community (BME) in Birmingham to undertake a thirteen week placement in The Netherlands. The objectives include providing transferable work skills, promoting an understanding of European business practices and culture, and improving employability. The partner in The Netherlands, The Hub, will source placements from within their network of enterprises. Participants will develop their marketing, social media, web, leadership, communication and financial literacy skills. Validation will be through Europass and accreditation will also include working towards Business Administration or Enterprise NVQ level 2 and an NVQ level 1 in employability. Project Representative: Edward Evans 9 Askham Bryan College Integration of Agriculture and Forestry in production of essential Bio-fuels IVT Previous LdV Mobility Projects Project Summary Askham Bryan College intends to send students aged 16-19 studying level 2 and 3 extended diplomas or advanced apprenticeships in agriculture, environment and conservation, and sustainable development programmes, on a placement to Norway for seventeen days. Placements will be based on their partner's (Stebakk Videregaende Skole) farm or local farms. Value added includes understanding on how weather conditions affect what is farmed through a cold winter, and how domestic livestock are housed. Europass will be used to validate the experience alongside ECVET to recognise learning outcomes achieved while on placement. Project Representative: Edward Evans Aston University Engineering Academy Engineering Futures IVT New to LdV Mobility Project Summary This proposal is focused on sending participants enrolled on BTEC level 3 courses in Engineering, on a two-week work placement to a mechanical engineering company or workshop in Austria. The applicant organisation is Aston University Engineering Academy in Birmingham, a University Technical College. Its host partner is HTL Modling, a technical Education and Vocational training School in Austria. The objective of the placement is to enhance students' linguistic skills in German, increase their understanding of the Austrian culture and its
