The portion of the document available online has no date or signature, but it is described as having been prepared in October 1779 by Edmund M. Hyrne, who was then a Major in the 1st South Carolina Continental Regiment. The Siege of Savannah was begun by Gen. Benjamin Lincoln on September 24, 1779 and abandoned on October 19.
