The closure of Maelstrom stirs up lots of fond memories, both for me and for thousands and thousands of Disney fans worldwide. I will never forget the polar bears, the trolls, and especially the deep sea oil rig. Seeing a beloved attraction close is like saying goodbye to an old friend. But while we’re sad to see Maelstrom set sail for the last time, we can simultaneously be excited about the new attraction that’s on the way. Not only can we look forward to one of Disney’s most beloved films being brought to life right before our eyes, we can also thrill at the prospect of the new tricks and technologies that the Imagineers have in store of us. Many new and refurbished attractions, such as Enchanted Tales With Belle, Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid, and the Haunted Mansion have offered up a wondrous assortment of new effects and Animatronic breakthroughs. Best of all, these advancements were not used purely for effect; they were used to bring these classic stories to life in ways that we could never imagine. Change can be difficult, and it’s safe to say that many of us have fond memories of, and prefer, some of the older versions of attractions, or long lost attractions, to their updates or replacements. But change can be exciting too, and that is truly one of the great things about Walt Disney World; the never ending drive to look toward the future, to hold true to Walt Disney’s ideals of innovation and imagination, and to dream of, and try, the impossible. We will always have our memories of attractions past, but we can also look forward to new memories and new magic…magic created in the spirit of Walt Disney himself, who reminded all of us to “keep moving forward.” Enjoy the magic! With nearly 50 trips, that Letters has included our children, their friends, and Dance Studio group trips, this will be our first trip with our 1st grandson. When we told him where he was going, he was ready to pack and go. The only problem is he will have to wait till Christmas to leave! The Logan Family Lansing, Illinois Frozen Treats of a Different Sort! Wow what a milkshake!! On our recent visit to Walt Disney World, we made sure to stop at one of our favorite restaurants, the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While we all enjoy watching the movies, as we all know it’s really about the food! Here are our daughters Amanda and Ashley enjoying their shakes, which were monstrous (and delicious!). This is one of our favorite places.
