
December 10, 2010 CIS Mission Statement: Cayman International School endeavors to provide each of our students the opportunity to achieve his/her academic and personal best within a U.S./ International educational environment that encourages and inspires leadership, character, and community service while embracing cultural diversity. CIS would like to thank all the people who made “Cayman Cayman Once Upon a Time Once Upon a Time” a successful event. Over the 2 days, CIS Events students had a fantastic time, and learned much about the culture and heritage of the Cayman Islands. On December 7th, CIS parents Dec. 9-12 High School soccer tournament in John and Denise McLean demon- Jamaica strated traditional Caymanian teas: Dec. 10 Middle School Movie Night; ARC; basil, mint and lemongrass. With many different nationalities and cultures Jan. 24 Heroes’ Day; no school represented at CIS, an effort has been made to set dates on the calendar within our school parameters and in accordance with feedback received. This calendar lists only major dates and does not list the Red and Green civvies day for all students many activities and events that will be held during the year. The feedback between a shorter or longer holiday break in December/January was fairly balanced in January Lunch Order/Ticket Sales the parent survey. The faculty/staff preferred a slightly longer break to allow for off island travel. The On campus lunch orders and ticket sales return date will be January 4, 2012, providing an extra travel day for families, teachers and staff who will take place during student drop-off are away for the holidays. January 4-6. The majority of feedback from both surveys indicated satisfaction for a student break from Feb. 20-25, thus allowing for a faculty/staff in-service two-day session on Feb. 21-22. CIS was asked to develop a design showing what peace means to children in the Cayman Islands to be added to drawings to create a quilt. Ms. Megan asked grades 3-6 make designs whenever they finished a project early in class, and together with Mr. Troy, several were selected and combined to best represent the Cayman Islands and peace.
