The THC No. 1 Ground litigation was successfully resolved in 2012. The Board was very pleased with the settlement, the terms of which are confidential. The Board had spent a lot of time bringing this matter to finalisation and had carried the costs through that process. Several new sponsorship agreements were signed, including RACT and ANZ Bank. It continues to be a difficult market for sponsorship but this is an issue which is a real priority for the Board. On behalf of the Board I wish to thank all sponsors of Hockey Tasmania. Your support of our sport is greatly appreciated. 3 We hosted several national championships in 2012 including the U21 men championship, U16 school boys and school girls championship and the Masters men’s tournament. Many volunteers were involved in these successes and I extend our thanks to them. Our sport relies on contributions from volunteers and their wonderful efforts throughout the year are greatly appreciated. The Board congratulates all state, national and international representatives. They are excellent role models for our aspiring players. With assistance of partial funding from Hockey Australia the Board was able to appoint a Game Development Manager. We welcome Melissa Jelliff to this role. The aim of this role is to increase participation throughout the state and Melissa has the three Development Officers reporting to her to assist her with this goal. Following negotiations with the Tasmanian Institute of Sport, Ilene Carr was appointed as Coach of the Emerging Talent Squad. The squad aims to bring younger players from around the state through to the next level of elite participation. This position is principally funded by TIS with Hockey Tasmania making a contribution to the cost of the position. 2 0 1 2 In 2012, the Board engaged an independent year with a number of extra meetings dealing with person to review the organisational structure of the structure review and recruitment process for Hockey Tasmania. The Board reviewed whether we were able to afford to participate in this competition but decided that it was crucial to our strategic goals including increasing our national and international representative success and our participation generally.
