Around the world, an increasing number of young people are going to university as a way of shaping their lives and opportunities. And it makes sense that this is happening. The world faces enormous challenges. The demands on the next generation will require them to have sophisticated skills, deep knowledge and the ability to solve complex problems. At Sheffield Hallam University, we understand this. We understand the need to bring powerful knowledge to bear on the toughest challenges. We transform lives. We do this by shaping our students' futures and preparing them for whatever they choose to do, and by creating knowledge through research and industry partnerships that will provide innovative and practical solutions to real world challenges. We also know that our relationship with students starts even before they enrol at university. We aim to provide the very best information about programmes of study so that applicants have the practical skills and knowledge they need to be successful. We aim to work with schools and colleges to build strong bridges between them and the University. Our School and College Engagement Team lead a range of innovative and imaginative activities that inform, inspire and engage students from an early age up to the point of enrolment, introducing them to the benefits of higher education. Professor Sir Chris Husbands Vice-Chancellor @Hallam_VC Welcome to the Schools, Colleges and Community Engagement Programme This booklet is designed to show how Sheffield Hallam University can work with you to support your students in their journey to higher education. Within it, you will find information on each of the teams, our activities and how to engage with our offer, together with a helpful post-16 year planner. The School and College Engagement Team works alongside the Widening Participation and Outreach and other University teams to ensure we provide the most consistent and comprehensive support for schools and colleges. We also work with a number of key partner organisations to ensure a comprehensive offer for schools, colleges, students, teachers and advisors, across the city region and beyond.
