Under the provision ofNational Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and as decided by the State Level Coordination Committee on Crop Insurance (SLCCI) in its meeting held on 10.12.2008, the Governor of Mizoram is pleased to implement National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) in the State of Mizoram during Rabi 2008-2009 on the following conditions. During Rabi 2008-2009 Season Mustard, French Bean, Field Pea and Potato will be covered under this Scheme. TheAgriculture Insurance Company ofIndia Limited (AIC) will be the Implementing Agency (AI) ofthis scheme as decided by the Govt. ofIndia. 1. Risks Covered and Exclusion: As contained in the scheme, these would be as under: (i) Natural Fire and Lighting. (ii) Storm, Hailstorm, Cyclone, Typhoon, Tempest, Hurricane, Tornado, etc. (iii) Drought Dry Spells, (iv) Pests/Diseases. Loses arising out of war and nuclear risks, malicious damage and other preventable risks shall be excluded. 2. Farmers Covered: The Scheme is applicable to all the farmers growing Mustard, French Bean, Field Pea and Potato Crops in the notified areas. a) On Compulsory Basis: The scheme is on compulsory basis to Loanee farmers availing Seasonal Agricultural Operation (SAO) loans from the Financial Institutions i.e. Commercial Banks, Cooperative Bankf, Regional Rural Banks and Primary Agricultural Cooperatives (PACs) for the insured crops within the stipulated period. b) On Voluntary Basis: For the Non-Loanee farmers, it is optional. "Additional Coverage (Level-Il)" indicated Sum Insured beyond the value ofThreshold Yield and up to value ofAverage Yield, which attracts Actuarial Premium Rates. However, in case ofLOANEE FARMERS, the ENTIRE CROP LOAN AMOUNT shall be COMPULSORILY covered as "Sum Insured", at the LOWER Premium Rate, regardless of the Sum Insured Limits stated above. Subsidy On Premium: The Small and Marginal Farmers are eligible for 10% subsidy on total premium which will be shared by the Central Govt. and State Govt on 50:50 basis. L.
