Classic: Latte

Classic: Latte Caffe latte is a coffee drink made with espresso and steamed milk. The word comes from the Italian caffè e latte, caffelatte or caffellatte, which means "coffee & milk". Ingredients: Milk or alternative milk (steamed, add a tiny amount of foam) Espresso (1-shot 8/12oz, 2-shots 16/20oz, 3-shots 24/32oz) Did you know? The basic steps of latte art starts with the barista pouring the steamed milk into the center of the espresso crema. Steadily and smoothly pour the milk and change the pattern of the pour to create your art. The strength of an Americano varies with the number of shots of espresso and the amount of water added. Ingredients: Water (steamed) Espresso (1-shot 8/12oz, 2-shots 16/20oz, 3-shots 24/32oz) Did you know? A normal Americano is made by adding steamed water to the espresso mellowing out the flavor of the drink̶similar to a drip coffee. A Long Black on the other hand is the reverse. At W Grind, our default is to pour a Long Black to maximize the flavor of the espresso and the crema̶pour the espresso over the steamed water…but if a customer asks for a drip coffee, the reverse order might be more in line with their expectations. The name is derived from the city of Mocha, Yemen, which was one of the centers of early coffee trade. Ingredients: Chocolate milk (steamed) or White milk with white chocolate powder for a white mocha (steamed) Espresso (1-shot 8/12oz, 2-shots 16/20oz, 3-shots 24/32oz) Whip (optional) Did you know? Other coffee stands and chains make their mochas using white milk and chocolate syrups, we pride ourselves at W Grind in making our mochas with great tasting, steamed chocolate milk like a latte. Latte art can also be applied here to a mocha. Alternate milks can be used but then we use the best tasting chocolate syrups instead of milk. A latte macchiato means “stained” or “marked” milk. Itʼs a play on the espresso macchiato, stained espresso. Latte macchiatos are mostly milk and foam with a little bit of espresso; espresso macchiatos are the opposite. Variations of the drink involve the use of cream instead of milk, using non-dairy milks, and flavoring with cinnamon or chocolate powder. Ingredients: Milk or alternative milk (steamed) Flavoring (optional) (8oz=2 pumps, 12oz=3, 16oz=4, 20oz=5, 24oz=6, 32oz=8) Espresso (1-shot 8/12oz, 2-shots 16/20oz, 3-shots 24/32oz) Did you know? A traditional cappuccino has an even distribution of espresso, steamed milk, and foamed milk. A latte has way more steamed milk and a light layer of foam. A cappuccino is distinctly layered, while in a latte the espresso and steamed milk are blended together.
