All state candidates must stop fund raising during legislative sessions except during the 120 days prior to an election. ***Upon the conclusion of the House 46 special primary runoff election and House 72 special primary election, the Secretary of State, pursuant to Amendment 97 of the Alabama Constitution of 1901, made a finding that a legally qualified candidate for election to each vacancy was unopposed. Therefore, under that amendment, the special general election for each of these vacancies was not to be held and the unopposed candidate was to be issued a certificate of election.
