The campsite is a starting point for easy and demanding hikes. Bus connection to Glarus. (Bus stop can be reached on foot in 2 minutes). The season starts in mid-April and ends in early October (www.zkgl.ch) Canton of Glarus The canton of Glarus includes the Linth to the Walensee and the Linthebene west of the Linth to Bilten and the Kerenzerberg. Variation in height characterize the image of the Glarus region: from the flat valley floor at 414 meters, the terrain rises to over 3600 meters (Tödi, 3614 m above sea level). These contrasts are reflected in the climate: Within a few kilometers it changes from a mild climate on Lake Walensee with its southern flora to a cool glaciated mountain peaks altitude. But if the Föhn, (a warm south wind) blows through the valley, temperature increases rapidly, even in winter. The Sernf or Kleintal is the only side valley that offers space for the rural settlements of Engi, Matt and Elm. Politically, the canton of Glarus is divided into three municipalities, Glarus North, Glarus and Glarus South. City of Glarus In the heart of Glarus, the capital of the canton of the same name, you will find many shops and a weekly market (Wednesday and Saturday), which has local specialties to offer. The Klöntal The lake Klöntal lies at a height of 848 meters above sea level embedded in a deeply carved side valley. The Glärnisch (2904 m above sea level) rises to the south of the lake and Dejenstogg to the north (2012 m above sea level). Since the beginning of the 20th century, the lake Klöntal has been dammed up on its east side by a small dam and used for energy generation. With a length of about five kilometers and an average width of more than 300 meters, it is one of the largest lakes in Glarus. The reservoir is fed by the river Klön. The Löntsch in turn flows down the lake and flows into the Linth at Netstal. 2 Pich order and regulations Camping Club Glarnerland Rules and practical informations 1.
