Inverclyde Community Partnership Council Briefing August 2017

Inverclyde Community Partnership Council Briefing August 2017 Produced By: Inverclyde Community Safety Partnership Email: [email protected] Campaigns and Initiatives FLY TIPPING Illegal Dumping (Fly Tipping) is a common problem in Inverclyde, including discarded old furniture, tyres, construction waste, garden waste, car batteries or bags of household waste. It can be a source of pollution, affects the aesthetic appeal of an area, and increases the risk of fire raising. To reduce the problem rubbish should be kept off the pavement until refuse collection day and unwanted household appliances, furniture and general waste should be arranged to be dumped, free of charge, at one of the Council's Recycling Centres www.inverclyde.gov.uk/environment/recycling-and-waste-services/neighbourhood-recycling-points or contact the Customer Service Centre on 01475 717171 to arrange a Bulk Uplift for a moderate fee. As Bonfire and Fireworks night approaches, fly tipping can be a major concern and it is also a criminal offence. Please follow the above advice for a safer season and if you see fly tipping or know of an area where there is a build-up of refuse or combustible material, contact your local authority cleansing or environmental department to arrange uplift. For more information you can contact the Dumb Dumpers or call their Stop Line on 0845 2 30 40 90.
