Table Of Contents From the Desk of Publicis Groupe’s Chief Diversity Officer pg 3 Upcoming Professional Development Opportunities and Events pg 4 News from Across Publicis Groupe pg 5 Business Resource Group (BRG) Updates pg 15 Meet the Full Talent Engagement & Inclusion (TE&I) Council pg 29 2 From the Desk of Publicis Groupe’s Chief Diversity Officer Sandra Sims-Williams Chief Diversity Officer Here we are in the fall season and we have just a couple more months to go before the end of the year. I hope each and every one of you had an enjoyable summer with time to re-energize and think about what you might want to accomplish between now and the end of the year. In what is typically a very busy time of year, please be sure to prioritize self-care so that you can be your very best in both your professional and personal lives. As I speak about accomplishments in this home stretch, I am particularly pleased to announce that my team hosted Publicis Groupe’s annual CEO Roundtable in New York earlier this month. This roundtable provides a forum for our U.S.-based CEOs to learn from external consultants and from one another on topics related to diversity and inclusion. This year’s session packed a punch as we welcomed both former Attorney General of the United States Eric Holder and Dr. Ramesh Srinivasan. Now in private practice, Eric Holder engaged in a fireside chat with me and Deputy General Counsel, John Spitzig. Our CEOs had a chance to hear from Eric Holder with his views on diversity and inclusion and how company leaders can turbocharge their commitment to D&I for the benefit of their talent, their business, and the business of their clients. Following our fireside chat with Eric Holder, we had an opportunity to hear from Dr. Ramesh Srinivasan who has expertise in the intersection between D&I and artificial intelligence (AI). I first had a chance to hear Dr. Srinivasan speak at the Odyssey business retreat in 2016 and was immediately captured by his passion for the subject and his wealth of knowledge as it relates to how unconscious bias can be coded into the underlying algorithms that fuel artificial intelligence. All this was good information to have as Publicis Groupe continues to build Marcel and our CEOs continue to be challenged with how AI will impact our business. In closing, I would like to remind you that aside from all the demands on your time at work and at home, keep in mind that our business resource groups have lots of exciting and interesting programs being offered across the country leading up to the end of the year. If you are not yet a part of a distribution list, I invite you to curate your own experience by visiting our BRG portal here: https://tinyurl.com/ybq27hlv and opting in. And if you’re looking for some additional professional development opportunities to help round your year, please take a look at the next page. Unconscious bias helps us all filter what gets our attention. Delivered by Cook Ross, the Unconscious Bias seminar provides a clearer understanding of unconscious behavior and its influence on individuals and organizational culture. This program supports participants in helping to recognize patterns or “norms” of behavior that can exert enormous influence over organizational and business decisions, choices, and behaviors related to recruiting, hiring decisions, job assignments, performance reviews, and advancement choices. If diversity is “the mix,” then inclusion is making the mix work by leveraging the wealth of knowledge, insights, and perspectives in an open, trusting, and diverse workplace. Known as MAIP Fellows, program participants gain real-world work experience, on-the-job training, and access to a network of peers and established industry professionals. Publicis Groupe agencies have a strong tradition of supporting MAIP, and 2018 has been no exception. Agencies across all four of Publicis Groupe’s solution hubs were home to 42 MAIP interns. 2018 marked the first year Publicis Groupe offered a concierge service to its resident MAIP Fellows as a way to help better familiarize them with our company, its offerings, and its people. Together, Joanna Lane (Re:Sources), Karla Talley (Digitas), Mackenzie Hollis (Publicis Health), and Robert Camilleri (Re:Sources) made themselves available to answer questions about our industry, Publicis Groupe, and career opportunities within our agencies and to facilitate introductions to various professionals across the network for informational chats. Here, in their own words, are testimonials from some of this year’s MAIP Fellows: “The best part of my mentorship was working with like-minded individuals that made me feel comfortable with who I am as a creative. I enjoyed every learning experience and [piece of] advice. As I move on from this internship, I will not only take the heartfelt talks with my mentors, but I will use them as an example to be a quality leader when I must rise to the occasion. Thank you for this experience. It was not only such a great opportunity but it was a whole level of confirmation that I am where I belong.” “I have absolutely loved my experience this past summer. I would say the best aspect of this internship was being treated like an important member of every team and being included in all of the company’s activities. Presenting our internship project was probably the most rewarding part of this summer—especially since we were able to show our managers what we’ve learned these past 6 weeks. The most valuable experiences I’ll forever hold with me are the relationships and memories I’ve created during my time here.” “The best aspect of my internship is a combination of the amazing staff I was able to work with and the work I have been able to do. Everyone was so willing to bring me along with them to meetings regardless [of whether] I was on their team or not. The community support allowed me to really grow professionally. Along with that, my team didn’t treat me like an intern; instead I was doing associate level work. This internship experience has been the best one I have had.” 5 News From Across Publicis Groupe Alexis Zambrano
