Sauk County’s 50+ Club JUNE 2021 Newsletter NOTES FROM BASCO BOARD PRESIDENT BASCO! What is it? Why did I join? That’s easy—I came to three events and thought how relaxing-and joined! I’ve made new friends and enjoy the various activities BASCO has to offer. For the activities we offer, there isa $1 participation fee that has taken in enough to meet the rent! In 2014, I was asked to run for office and really have tried to do my best. The first year was on Ways and Means as Chair, and then Trips Chair which was too much. Second year I was Trips Chair, as I am today. It’s a lot of work, having to cancel 4 trips in 2020. We have 3 trips booked for 2021 and they are filling up fast. We have monthly board meetings to update activities and to keep financial business intact. I monitor all the activities and when something is voted on, I check to see the changes are administered. In six months, it will be election time again. Please consider running as a BASCO board member. If you would like more details, please call the BASCO office (608) 356-8464 or give me a call (608) 448-7972. BASCO Board President Nora Schmidt CELEBRATE FLAG DAY JUNE 14! Flag Day, a day of honoring the national flag, is observed this year on Monday, June 14. On May 30, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation establishing national Flag Day on June 14. The day commemorates the date in 1777 with the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States. 2 APRILJUNE CENTERCENTER ACTIVITIACTIVITIESES Most activities are held in Rooms 21 & 24 at the Baraboo Civic Center.
