CONFERENCE THEME: “The Local Bridging the Global” Globalization is one of the global topics in geography. There is no exception in East Asia. In fact, translocal exchanges of ideas, commodities, cultures, languages, people, arts, and philosophies existed hundreds of years ago along the Silk Road that expanded Asia towards the “new world.” Humans have overcome physical and technical barriers between geographic locations separated by long distances, and now can communicate with each other in much faster and easier ways. Roads, routes, sea lanes and airlines are not the only ones that connect the local to the global. Uniqueness, matchlessness, and originality are essential for the local to become globalized no matter where you are. As a matter of fact, everybody you meet has an original point of view. Open up your eyes and ears, and let’s work together to make things better. It’s a simple message. We need to believe in ourselves and realize the values of our society. From this perspective, let’s take this opportunity to place international insights on the local bridging the global! FEATURED TOPICS The conference will feature more than 100 presentations and posters by young and leading scholars, researchers, educators, and students.
