Dear Readers, SpotLight 02 Citius, Altius, Fortius - Faster, Higher, Stronger, words from the Olympic motto best describe the Dept. of Visual & Performing Arts 09 recent events that mark the transformation the SSU campus is going through. The majestic facade of SSU has now emerged as a prominent landmark in the fast changing landscape Faculty of Management Studies 20 of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, the twin cities which represent a blend of the ancient with the modern. Dept. of English & Foreign Languages 25 The academic year 2018-19 started with a big bang as the University rolled out seven new Vivechana- The Counselling Space 27 programmes in arts and sciences which were a hit among applicants from different parts of the country. The flurry of events this year right from day one added to the grandeur of the campus and its unique culture, be it the Commencement Day or the Musical Concert for the freshers or the Naval Band Performance. Adding feather to our cap was the Fifth Convocation of the University which was broadcast live in more than one hundred and fifty countries on Youtube. An ever-increasing number of aspiring learners from the different corners of the country and also the world has added to the vibrancy of the community life one can experience here in the campus. With our horizons having expanded, this issue of SSU Insight offers its readers yet another opportunity to explore and experience the rich diversity our unique campus has to offer. Happy reading. Mr. Ocampo’s insights on Non Violence and Prana as means to peace were fascinating. Workshop on Ethical Leadership for Conflict Resolution at the Alternative Dispute Resolution Conference was facilitated at Sri Sri University. Ms. Rajita Kulkarni, President, reinforced the importance of five Cs- Connections, Courage, Compassion, Context & Commitment 4 | INSIGHT 13 August 2018: The 20 men Naval band from Indian Navy performed a ‘Band Concert’ in Sri Sri University. Scintillating orchestra and eclectic mix of popular Indian numbers, Western Classical and Rock set the tone for the evening. 15 August 2018: 72nd Independence Day was celebrated in the University campus. Ms. Rajita Kulkarni, President, Sri Sri University conducted her first Advanced Meditation Program at the University. Participants experienced true happiness with fun-filled sessions of Yoga and deep guided meditation for a perfect spiritual vacation for mind, body and spirit- a journey from Head to Heart. Art of Living Apex Body & Committee members of all 14 districts of Kerala visited Sri Sri University for their annual convention. They were highly impressed with the academic and residential facilities, food and hospitality here. Ms. Rajita Kulkarni, President, World Forum for Ethics in Business (WFEB) spoke at the OPPI India Annual Summit in Delhi on ‘Ethics in the Pharmaceutical Industry’. She also presented an Ethics Framework for Innovation. 16 | INSIGHT Faculty of Indic Studies Department of Sanskrit Sanskrit Week 25th Aug - 05th Sept 2018: Sanskrit Week was celebrated in the Campus in which various activities like Shloka-paatha, Sanskrit song recitation, storytelling in Sanskrit, speech in Sanskrit etc were conducted by the students and faculty members of the department of Sanskrit in Sanskrit language. In the inaugural function on 25th August 2018, the chief guest Ms. Rupali Naik, Administrator, Sri Sri Gurukul encouraged the students to pursue their passion for Sanskrit. Dr. Ajit Kumar, faculty, Computer Science, in his special talk, encouraged the students to take Computer science and Sanskrit together as their research area. All the students, faculty and staff of SSU and Sri Sri Gurukul also joined the ceremony. This one week celebration ended with the closing ceremony on 5th September 2018, where students enthusiastically presented their best performances of the week before the chief guest of the ceremony, Capt.
