September 1, 2021 Page 1 of 44 Electoral History for Fairview-Clayton Park Fairview-Clayton Park In 2013, following the recommendation of the Electoral Boundaries Commission, this district was created by merging the area north of Bayers Road and west of Connaught Avenue from Halifax Chebucto; the area south of Mount St Vincent University and Lacewood Drive as well as the Washmill Drive area from Halifax Clayton Park; and the area north of Highway 102 and east of Northwest Arm Drive / Dunbrack street from Halifax Fairview. In 2021, the district lost that portion east of Joseph Howe Drive and Elliot Street to Connaught Avenue to Halifax Armdale. September 1, 2021 Page 3 of 44 Electoral History for Halifax Fairview Halifax Fairview The Halifax Fairview constituency was created following the recommendations of the 1992 Electoral Boundaries Commission. The district's boundaries were drawn to encompass the Cowie Hill area, formerly part of Halifax Atlantic; the Fairview area, formerly part of Halifax Bedford Basin; and the area west of the CNR tracks, formerly part of Halifax Chebucto. In 2013, following the reivew of the Electoral Boundaries Commission, this district was renamed Halifax Armdale and it gained the area east of Herring Cove Road and north of Frog Pond Park from Halifax Atlantic. It lost the area north of Highway 102 and east of Northwest Arm Drive / Dunbrack Street to Fairview-Clayton Park. In 2013 following the review of the Electoral Boundaries Commission, this district was renamed Clayton Park West. It gained Birch Cove and Kearney Lake areas from Bedford-Birch Cove and the Kearney Lake area from Hammonds Plains-Upper Sackville. It llost the Susies Lake and Quarrie Lake areas to Timberlea-Propect; the areas south of Mount Saint Vincent University and Lacewood Drive as well as the Washmill Lakee Drive area the Fairview-Clayton Park. September 1, 2021 Page 9 of 44 Electoral History for Halifax Chebucto Halifax Chebucto In 1966, an amendment ot the House of Assembly Act (SNS 1966, c. 34) divided Halifax North into Halifax City North East and Halifax City North West. These districts were subsequently changed in 1967 through another amendment to the House of Assembly Act (SNS 1967, c. 46), and Halifax City North West became Halifax Chebucto. [reference?]. In 2003, Halifax Chebucto Gained an area at its southern boundary between Quinpool Rd. and Jubilee Rd. from Halifax Citadel. In 2013, following the recommendations of the 2012 Electoral Boundaries Commission report, this district expanded to include the area south of Robie Street and east of Young Street from Halifax Needham. It also gained the area west of Robie Street and north of Coburg Road from Halifax Citadel- Sable Island. It lost the area north of Bayers Road and east of Connaught Avenue to Halifax Needham and the area north of Bayers Road and west of Connaught Avenue to Fairview-Clayton Park. In 2021, using Windsor Street as a dividing line, some of Halifax Needham was moved to Halifax Chebucto. As a result of the Windsor Street dividing line, it also gained that area bounded by Windsor Street, Connaught Avenue, and Bayers Road from Halifax Needham.
