He was Dean and Chair Professor of Finance, School of Business at the Hong Kong Baptist University. Professor Cheung was also Convenor of the Business Advisory Committee at the university and participated in the accreditation and assessment of undergraduate, research and graduate programs, academic ! development and strategic development. Professor Cheung is highly active in academic research, focusing on corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and financial market development, and publishes widely in international refereed journals. He is also a prolific writer, contributing numerous articles to Chinese, English, !Japanese and French newspapers and magazines. Professor Cheung has actively participated in a wide range of community services. He chairs the Supervisory Committee of the Asian Bond Fund APEC 2014 Symposium 5 Hong Kong Bond Index Fund of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Nursing and Midwifery Sub-Group of Steering Committee on Strategic Review on Healthcare Manpower Planning and Professional Development, the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation, and the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund Task Force, and serves as a member of the Commission on Poverty. In past years, Professor Cheung held a number of other public offices. He was the Chairman of the Consultation Panel of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and Part- time Member of the Central Policy Unit. ! ! Chul Chung Dr. Chul Chung is a research fellow of Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) and director of Korea National Center for APEC Studies as well as executive director of KOPEC. He also serves as an editor of the Journal of International Trade and Industry Studies. Prior to joining KIEP in 2007, he was a professor of the School of Economics at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, where he taught international trade and research methods for six years. Being on leave from KIEP from 2009 to 2012, he served as Chief Economist for Korea International Trade Association (KITA) in Washington D.C. During the three year stint in Washington D.C., he has worked as a member of the KORUS FTA (Korea- US Free Trade Agreement) outreach team together with Dr. Han Duk-Soo, then Ambassador of Korea to the United States, and the US Chamber of Commerce for the ratification of the KORUS FTA, which entered into force on March 15, 2012. After successfully completing the mission in Washington D.C., he returned to KIEP in 2012. Dr. Chung’s primary research interests are in the areas of international trade and economic geography. His current work focuses on international trade policies including FTAs and regional economic integration in the context of APEC. He received his Ph.D. in !Economics from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! APEC 2014: Opportunities and Priorities 6 Peter Drysdale Peter Drysdale is Emeritus Professor of Economics in the Crawford School of Public Policy at The Australian National University. He is widely acknowledged as the leading intellectual architect of APEC. He was founding head of the Australia-Japan Research Centre and is known for his work on East Asian and Pacific economic cooperation and the East Asian economies. He is the author of a large number of books and papers on international and resources trade, foreign investment and economic policy in East Asia and the Pacific, including International Economic Pluralism: Economic Policy in East Asia and the Pacific. He is recipient of the Asia Pacific Prize, the Weary Dunlop Award, the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun with Gold Rays and Neck Ribbon, the Australian Centenary Medal and he is a Member of the Order of Australia, and an Honorary Doctor of Letters, from the Australian National University. He is presently Head of East Asia Forum (www.eastasiaforum.org), the East Asian Bureau of Economic Research (EABER) (www.eaber.org) and the South Asia Bureau of Economic Research (SABER) (www.saber.org). APEC 2014 Symposium 7 Fan Gang Mr. Fan Gang is Ph.D, in Economics. Chairman, China Reform Foundation; Director, National Economic Research Institute; and Professor of Economics, Peking University and the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He got his Ph.D. in economics from the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) in 1988. He was visiting fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and Harvard University, MA, USA, 1985-1987; Senior research fellow and deputy director of Institute of Economics, CASS, 1992-1995; chief editor, Jingji Yanjiu (Economic Research Journal, monthly), 1992-1993; His publications include over 100 academic papers published in Chinese and English academic journals; and 12 books on Macroeconomics
