We recognise that the pandemic has caused great hardship to our Supporters Clubs and their staff and it is a testament to effective management and good business practices that sees our Clubs being able to weather the business shutdown and loss of trade as well as they have, hopefully as restrictions ease we will be able to restart these businesses and reinvigorate attendances. However, please be aware that the Branch is here to assist wherever we can, the strength and success of our Branch comes from our member clubs and it will be by pulling together that we are able to overcome these current difficulties. Notwithstanding the very difficult circumstances that we have experienced in the second half of the Season, Point Danger Branch has once again been able to build on past performances and increase our membership for Season 19/20. This is a wonderful achievement and it is especially gratifying to also see the increase in Active Members, congratulations and many thanks to all our Clubs, your Members and Office bearers in achieving these successes. It certainly bodes well for the future of 19/20 Point Danger Branch and our Clubs. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Club Presidents, it has been a privilege to work with you throughout the year and I sincerely appreciate your active involvement, your counsel and cooperation in improving our Branch year on year. Another high point to Season 19/20 has been the revitalisation of SLSQ, the Management Team and dynamic Board have implemented some important changes in recent months and I am looking forward to the new Strategic Plan and the strategies therein which will improve communication with, and outcomes for, our Clubs and Members. To all our keen sports men, women and juniors my commiserations for the loss of opportunity to exhibit your prowess at the States and Aussies, but I’m sure you will all bounce back bigger, better and more competitive in 20/21. It is a bittersweet moment for our Branch as we say goodbye to Kerrie Barnes as our Branch Manager. After an incredibly productive 20 years as Branch Manager, Kerrie has accepted a position with SLSQ and as much as it is only fair that we share Kerrie’s incredible passion, drive and encyclopaedic knowledge of all things Surf Life Saving with the rest of the State, she will be greatly missed. Congratulations Kerrie on your career advancement and thank you for being the greatest driving force behind PDB’s success over the past 20 years, I can assure you that we will try our best to continue on in the manner that you have taught (demanded of) us. We take heart in the thought that the blood in your veins runs PDB Blue & White and that we will still have your input and experience on hand at a State level. OUR SEASON – A SNAPSHOT 113 MEMBERS 1548 Preventative Actions 21431 People Warned 1755 MARINE STINGS 415 FIRST AID CASES EXECUTIVE PROFILE MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAINING With the ever-increasing emphasis on mentally healthy workplaces, SLSQ Point Danger Branch initiated training for leaders within our organisation in Mental Health First Aid. Twenty (20) members from eight clubs and the Branch participated in the training with an accredited Mental Health Australia practitioner and gained their accreditation. The course was well received and will now become a permanent fixture on the Branch calendar. The Branch has been able to provide Mental Health First Aid support to our members should they need it – members can register via our website and are allocated an accredited practitioner to assist them. PARTNERSHIP WITH VOLUNTEERING GOLD COAST In season 2019/2020 SLSQ Point Danger Branch embarked on a partnership with Volunteering Gold Coast. One of the key projects within this partnership
