INTRODUCTION Your Excellency Mar George Madathikandathil, the Bishop and Patron of the College, Rev. Msgr.Dr.Cherian Kanjirakombil, the Manager, Corporate Educational Agency, Diocese of Kothamangalam, Rev. Fr. Paul Nedumpurathu, Higher Education Secretary, Rev. Dr. Stanislaus Kunnel, the Secretary to the Corporate Educational Agency, esteemed fellow Principals and respected members of the governing body; I thank God Almighty for having given me the great opportunity to present the 68th annual report of Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha for the academic year 2020- 2021. This report is a reflection of the college’s performance in the academic year 2020- 21 and accountability to its Governing Body and other stakeholders. This academic year was a milestone year in the history of Nirmala College, completing the arduous journey of NAAC Reaccreditation Process under the Revised Accreditation Framework (RAF) for the 4th Cycle Reassessment. The CGPA 3.73 is the highest in the country among the affiliated colleges that have completed the 4th Cycle of A & A process. 8 I am proud to say that the college has emerged as an educational institution of national repute in its 68 years of existence. I take this opportunity to thank Your Excellency Mar George Madathikandathil, the Bishop and Patron of the College, whose unbounded vision brightened our path towards this glory. I also thank all the Governing Body members for the transformational leadership and pivotal guidance that has directed the IQAC, Staff Council, faculty members, non-teaching staff, students, parents, alumni and all other stakeholders to keep their goals high and achieving the same. It is also worth to mention that the Self Study Report was prepared under the guidance of the former principal Dr. James Mathew. I also take this opportunity to congratulate the IQAC team headed by Dr. Sony Kuriakose and the team members Dr. T M Jacob, Dr. Nibu Thomson, Dr. Juliya Emmanuel, Dr. Anu Jossy Joy, Dr. Radhu S, Mr. Mathews K Manayani, Sri. Shaimon Joseph, Sri. Titu Thomas for successfully completing the fourth cycle NAAC accreditation of the college. Majority of the academic activities of the pandemic year went fully online as per the directions of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of Kerala and Mahatma Gandhi University. Anticipating the same, the IQAC of the college organized Faculty Development Programmes and training sessions for teachers and students in the methods of online teaching, evaluation, assessment and conduct of examinations. Special programmes were also conducted to make the classes interesting, effective and more interactive. These kind of preparations really improved the quality of curriculum delivery and teaching-learning process during this academic year. The Annual Academic Strategic Planning and IQAC-Departmental Interface Meetings were completed in the month of May itself. Consequently, a tentative Academic Calendar of the year was prepared as the University Academic Calendar 9 was not published because of the Covid-19 circumstances. The academic calendar of the college got revised after getting the University Academic Calendar and classes started accordingly.
