Time frames investigated are based on the financial year from April 1st 2002 until March 30th 2005. London Ambulance Service Emergency Callouts for Alcohol Related Incidents in Ealing 2002-2005. Ealing has experienced an increase between 2002/2003 and 2004/2005 in emergency callouts to alcohol related incidents of 68%. This has been a steady increase over the three year period with 2003/2004 seeing a 33% increase in occurrence upon 2002/2003 and 2004/2005 experiencing a similar rise upon 2003/2004 findings by 26%. Gender Comparisons When investigating a breakdown based on gender, both males and females have seen increases in occurrence between 2002/2003 and 2004/2005 – males however seeing the largest increase with 73% more callouts in 2004/2005 than 2002/2003. For females this is a similar picture, however the percentage increase is marginally lower with an increase of 55% during the same time frame. London Ambulance Service Callouts by Age and Gender 2004/2005 Please note, figures may not add up to the precise number of callouts experienced by Ealing for both Charts 2 and 3. This is due to fields being left blank at the time of filling out the personal details of the patient. When considering the ages of those typically being attended to on callouts there is a slight differentiation between males and females. Females tend to be attended to at an earlier age with a peak in the age category 20 to 24. Slight variations continue with a late peak again in the 40 to 44 age bracket - a decline in trends is noticed from this point up until the age 85+. Males steadily increase from 15 to 19 with a slight dip noted between the ages 35 to 39 before peaking during their early 40’s. It is not until after the age range of 50 to 54 that figures decline steadily up until the age of 85+. Pan London Trends Trends identified across London highlight that, of the 33 individual London Boroughs, the City of Westminster had the largest volume of alcohol related callouts during 2004/2005. Alcohol Related Callouts Pan London 2004/2005 Typically, higher volumes of emergency callouts due to alcohol related incidents are located around the City of London with higher concentrations to the West in the City of Westminster, Camden and Ealing (Map 1). Alcohol Related Callouts pan London 2004/2005 Ealing Trends Emergency callouts by ward identify Southall Broadway to have experienced the greatest level of occurrence during 2004/2005 (Map 2, Chart 4). It is here however that levels have remained high throughout the three-year period, with all but 2002/2003 experiencing the highest volume of emergency callouts to alcohol related incidents borough wide. In total that equates to an increase in incidents between 2002/2003 and 2004/2005 of 68.7%. Ealing Broadway, where levels were noted highest during 2002/2003, has still seen an increase, but not to the same extent as Southall Broadway with 13.3% more callouts experienced. Alcohol related emergency callouts is an increasing problem on Borough, and although the highest volume of callouts have been experienced in Southall Broadway, comparisons between 2002/2003 and 2004/2005 highlight that Perivale, Northolt Mandeville and Walpole have seen sharp percentage increases with 287.5%, 200% and 168% more incidents over this time frame respectively. The only area to have seen a decrease is that of South Acton with 9.68% fewer incidents between 2002/2003 and 2004/2005. Map 2.
