On Sunday 21st April, (Easter Sunday), Stow Maries Great War Q: Where do bees go to the bathroom? Aerodrome will launch two new self- A: At the BP station! led trails for people visiting the site. Q: What did the stamp say to the envelope? ! !!!!!!!!The first called, ‘Chocks Away’, will A: Stick with me and we will go places! whisk visitors around the aerodrome answering questions connected to the exciting history and the different buildings found on the site. The second trail, ‘Hunt the Cat’ is aimed at slightly younger visitors, and gives them the chance to help Ridley, the Aerodrome’s cat, collect and find, his many lost belongings. To celebrate the launch of these two exciting activities, all children completing a trail will receive an Easter Egg. The wildlife walks which were recently introduced to the site, will be available on the day, as well as historical tours. The Airmen’s Mess will also be in full swing serving Easter treats. Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome’s Chief Executive, Ian Flint said: “We are constantly looking at ways to bring new elements into such a historical site. We hope that visitors will enjoy taking part in the trails as well as learning all about the site in the process. He and his wife started the first Woodham Ferrers Scout group in the village in 1965 (which eventually moved to S. W. Ferrers) He was a founder member of South Woodham Ferrers Rotary Group, a member of Aden Veterans, R.A.F.A and Blind Veterans UK. He leaves a wife, son and daughter, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Funeral will be held at St Marys Church Woodham Ferrers Tuesday 9th April at 12 noon. Our thanks to friends and neighbours for their support. George Rudgley Peacefully at home on the 19th March 2019 with his family by his side.
