Note No.D(f,,SO&S)/T3/ 110kV Vengara/20I9-20/ 78 dated 20 .LL.20L9 (Agenda No.iULLltsl The Chief Engineer (Transmission North) forwarded a proposal as per paper read 2 nd above for the construction of 110kV Substation, Vengara as LILO (8km) of Kizhissery - Malappuram 110kV line and installing 2x12.5MVA LLO/LLkV Transformers at an estimate amount of Rs.24.00 crore . The project is expected to facilitate the industrial and commercial development of Vengara and Oorakam grama panchayaths and nearby areas and to meet future demand, improve the quality and reliability of supply to about 3.5 Lakh people. The location for the Substation is proposed at Kilinakkode near Vengara which lies in between 110kV Substation Malappuram, 110kV Substation, Edarikode, 110 kV Substation Kizhissery, 33kV Substation, Kooriyad and 33kV Substation Othukkungal. lt is proposed to provide 2No. 12.5MVA, 110/11kV Transformers, 2No. 110kV feeder bays and 5 No. 11kV feeders. The incoming supply to substation is from the existing Kizhissery - Malappuram 110kV feeder 1 ( 1KlMLl ) with LILO arrangement for a length of 8 km. The location of this LILO ing point is near Myladi. Almost all line route proposed is passing through hilly terrain and lightly populated. Geographically the proposed area is located in the farthest end of all the substations mentioned above. All the l1kV feeders to the proposed area from these substations are almost overloaded or nearing full load. The growth of Load in Vengara town and surrounding area are expected to increase rapidly in the coming years due to commercial establishments and residential loads. Apart from that, lot of industrial units related to crushers and related to lnkel industrial projects are coming up in Oorakam village . This area is now fed by eight 11kV feeders viz. Pookkottur and Spinning mill feeder(from110kV Substation, Malappuram) ; Achanambalam and Pakkadappuraya feeder ( from 33kV Substation, Kooriyad ); AR Nagar and Kondotty feeder ( from 110 kV substation, Kizhissery ) Vengara feeder ( from 11OkV Substation, Edarikode ) and Mattathur feeder ( from 33kV Substation, Othukkungal ). Since all the above feeders are almost overloaded or nearing full load, interruption due to routine maintenance and feeder far-rlts will affect a large number of consumers for long time. Also at present 4.2 MVA new demand requests around Oorakam area are kept pending due to non availability of power. To tide over the crisis, the proposed substation is essential. Further, due to space constraints, no more outgoing 11 kV feeders can be arranged from the nearest substation viz. 110 kV substation, Edarikode. Moreover this substation is already loaded up to 90% of its installed capacity. This proposal will reduce the load of 1lOkV Substation, Edarikode to a certain extent. Further, the proposals of 11OkV Substation, Panakkad, 33kV Substation , Naduvakkad and 33kV Substation, Cherakkad need not be taken forward, if the above substation materialises. Load Flow Study shows that the construction of LLO/IIkV Substation at Vengara has a saving potential of 0.202 MW The study conducted with the present and future load indicates that the proposed project is beneficial by way of energy savings consequent to reduced losses and loading, improved voltage profile, better system availability, improved transmission reliability, providing secure supply and meeting the Government of India mandate for providing24 x7 power supply in a secure manner . The proposal was placed before the DPR Committee held on 24.10.2019 . After deliberations the Committee approved the proposal . The matter was placed before the FullTime Directors on 2O.IL2OI9 vide AgendaNo. 6I/LI/I9 for a decision. Having considered the above, the FullTime Directors in the meeting held on2O.I7.20I9 Resolved to accord Administrative Sanction for the Construction of 110kV Substation , Vengara as LILO (8km) of Kizhissery - Malappuram 110kV line and installing 2x12.5MVA 110/11kV Transformers at an estimate amount Rs.24.0 crore under Transmission Circle, Malappuram.
