Travel & Accommodation Information The conference venue is 43 Woodland Road, Bristol, BS8 1UU (no.23 on the precinct map). Visitors should travel to BRISTOL TEMPLE MEADS, which is about 2 miles from the University and much closer than Bristol Parkway. From Temple Meads: The 8 and 9 bus services run about every 10mins and stop on or near the University precinct. The journey is about 20mins. The current flat-fare single is £1.65. - Check www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/ for further information on buses in Bristol. To walk to the University takes around 30-40mins and includes some steep uphill sections. - Use www.maps.google.co.uk or www.walkit.com for walking directions. Taxis from Temple Meads to the University cost between around £10 and take about 10-15mins. By Coach Coaches from a range of UK cities arrive and depart from Bristol Bus and Coach Station on Marlborough Street in the centre of Bristol, about 15-20mins walk from the University precinct, including some steep uphill sections. - Use www.maps.google.co.uk or www.walkit.com for walking directions. Taxis from the coach station to the University cost around £5 and take about 5mins. By Car Bristol can be easily accessed from both the M5 or M4 (via the M32) motorways. - Use www.maps.google.co.uk for driving directions from the M5 or M32. There is no parking available on the University precinct other that a small amount of on-street parking which charges and is limited to a 2hr stay. The closest long-stay car parks are Trenchard Street, on Park Row(BS1 5AN), and West End, on Berkley Place (BS8 1EH). Both are approximately 5-10mins walk from the University and charge as follows: 1hr - £1.00; 2hr - £2.00; 3hr - £3.00; 4hr - £5.00; 12hr - £10.00. - Further information on car parks can be found at: http://www.bristol.gov.uk/item/wrap/Transport/CarParkComponent/ (Parking near the conference venue is available to delegates with access requirements) By Plane Bristol Airport is 13 km south of the city and has scheduled flights to many UK and European cities. To get to the University from the airport: - The Bristol Flyer bus - flyer.bristolairport.co.uk – calls at Bristol coach station (see directions above) and/or Queen’s road, approximately 5mins from the university precinct. - Checker Cars - www.checkercars.com/Bristol%20Airport%20Taxi.html - offer taxis from Bristol Airport. The journey should take around 30 minutes.
