I4020 If... (Great Britain, 1968)

I4020 IF... (GREAT BRITAIN, 1968) Credits: director, Lindsay Anderson ; writer, David Sherwin. Cast: Malcolm McDowell, David Wood, Richard Warwick, Christine Noonan. Summary: Melodrama set in a contemporary British boarding school. The students at College House are kept in line by tradition, strict discipline, and prefects until three unruly seniors refuse to conform. They lead a rebellion that turns surreal and violent as the students have their day. Conceived by Anderson in the 1950s but not produced until the late 1960s when international student rebellions had made the concept marketable.
