POLISH AMERICAN news October / November 2014 During October, We Salute Our Members, Friends, and Supporters Celebrating Polish American Heritage Month A National Celebration of Polish History, Culture, and Pride For the past 406 years, Polish heritage has been represented in America. When the Polish Settlers arrived in 1608, they opened the fi rst glass industry in America. Over the years, millions of Polish immigrants have joined them in search of the American Dream. Over 20 million Americans share full or partial Polish heritage. People of Polish heritage can look at their family history and see how much Poles in America have contributed to the well-being of every aspect of society and see how much their history, culture, faith, and pride grew in the great mosaic of America during the last 406 years. Polonia in America! As one of America’s major ethnic Polish American Cultural Center groups, Polish Americans remain a vibrant part of our nation’s ethnic Museum Exhibit Hall mosaic, its tax base, and cultural 308 Walnut Street well-being. When community organizers seek assistance from city or state services, they are simply seeking a portion of the services and appropriations which are being made possible from a portion of their own tax dollars.
