The percentage jumps to 22.6% for children. • Lack of access to fresh, healthy food compounded by a lack of knowledge about how to prepare nutritious meals leave many families relying on processed, easy-to-prepare foods For families struggling to decide between buying food or buying diapers or medicine, spices are a luxury they can rarely afford. Supplies Needed: • Sandwich-size Ziploc bags • Measuring spoons • Latex gloves and table covers to catch spills • Card stock for ingredient cards (front & back) • INGREDIENTS! Organizing your project: You will need a space with a large table (or tables) and enough room to spread out spices in one or more assembly areas for volunteers to easily access and measure spices Clearly indicate at each station how much of each item from that area go into each packet . Station 1: spice packet assembly . Station 2: ingredient cards cut out and inserted or attached Building your kits: Start your project off by showing a video about the impacts of hunger on families to give volunteers some context about the issue and how they are helping by feeding families .
