A scarce survivor. 180 SOUTH AUSTRALIA - Postal History 583 D A- POSTMARKS: 1927 parcel piece with KGV SMult Wmk Perf 14 1d green x20 tied by multiple strikes of the rare boxed 50x31½mm 'PARCEL POST/24NOV1927/ADELAIDE SA' d/s (#CRR-2; LRD) in violet, minor defects. ["Handheld Postmarks of South Australia" records one strike only, with approximate dimensions] 100 TASMANIA - Postal History Lot 621 621 CO (B) 1871 large piece (200x143mm) from a registered parcel to Kent with remarkable Three-Issue franking (faults) of VDL Imperf 4d & Perf 10 1d x2 and 'TASMANIA' Imperf 6d & 1/- (cut-to-shape) all tied by BN '63' of New Norfolk, private 'BOURNBANK/Parish of/Wellington' h/s & 'N NORFOLK/22 4 71' postmaster's provisional h/s, sloping 'TOO-LATE' h/s applied at Hobart, a few repaired edge-tears & parts of the address label removed with the registration ribbon. Endorsed "Printed Book with Photographs..." & signed "Molesworth Jeffery" which permitted mailing at the concessional rate for a "book packet" + 6d registration. Only six items recorded bearing the 6d registration rate that applied between 1871 & 1880. Scarce survivor. 200 NEW GUINEA - Mandated Territory Issues 1140 V A 1932-34 Undated Birds 2d 3d 5d 6d & 2/- to £1, 1939 Bulolo 5d & £1, all in horizontal pairs, Cat £760+. (20) 300 Ex Lot 1141 1141 V A/B 1939 Bulolo Airs 4d 5d and 1/- to £1 SG 217 218 & 221-5 blocks of 4, some minor staining/aging consistent with having been removed from bullion tags, all with 'BULOLO' cds of various dates, Cat £3400+ as single sets. Used blocks are rare. (7 blocks) 1,400 NEW GUINEA - Mandated Territory Issues - Postal History Lot 1144 1144 C A- 1935 (Mar 15) gold bullion parcel tag with rare and remarkable franking of Undated Airs 3d, 2/- marginal pair, 5/- & £1 block of 6 (the fourth unit damaged when affixed; the right-hand block of 4 is very fine) affixed to both sides & tied by 'WAU' cds. Ex Tom Frommer: acquired at Mossgreen on 4.4.2017 for $1800. 1,500T Page:5 Nov 24, 2018 NEW GUINEA - Mandated Territory Issues - Postal History (continued) Lot Type Grading Description Est $A Lot 1145 1145 CA - (Nov 18) gold bullion parcel tag with rare and remarkable franking of Silver Jubilee 1d, Undated Airs 5/- & Bulolo £5 emerald tied by 'WAU' cds, registration cachet on the reverse, remarkably fine for such an item. Ex Tom Frommer: acquired at Mossgreen on 4.4.2017 for $3840. [The rate was 2d per 1oz letter rate x157 + 3d per ½oz airmail surcharge x314 + 3d registration + 2d late fee for registered articles = £5/5/1d. The only other £5 franking known to us is a similar large-part tag franked £5/4/3d Ex Ken Kutz, the current whereabouts of which is unknown] 3,000T NEW HEBRIDES 1149 CO B 1938 (c.) large packet piece (247x170) endorsed "Contains Supper Cloth value 10/-" with four-issue franking tied by light 'PAQUEBOT/SYDNEY' cds, Australian Customs 'ASSESSMENT LABEL' affixed & 3/11d duty assessed, endorsed "T3d" and Postage Due 1d & 2d tied by 'SURREY HILLS/VIC' cds, minor faults. Australian Customs Labels on cover are extremely rare. 400 SEYCHELLES - Military - World War II Lot 1307 1307 CO B 1944 (Apr 8) large piece from an officer's parcel (219x172mm) endorsed "Cigarette Case/Value £3.0.0" registered to GB with rare & exceptional franking of 50c 1r50c pair & 5r block of 4, 'PASSED - BY MILITARY - CENSOR/ ["autograph"]/No 11/74' cachet (#H.EA.4A) & British 'crown]/CUSTOMS/AND/EXCISE' cachet, some soiling. An extraordinary survivor. [The rate was 1r x23 + 20c registration + 30c insurance for 120 rupees = 23r50c] 1,000T.
