Yearbook 2014-2015 Season President’s report 2014-15 It is with great pleasure that I recognise the Terrigal Matcham Cricket Club Junior Annual Report. What a great season! After overcoming the usual pre-season challenges of getting on the park in October we have finished the season with 5 semi- finalists, one minor premiership, 3 grand finalists and two premierships. At the end of the day, over 180 kids have had the chance to play the wonderful sport of cricket from Milo through to the under 17s an increase on last year’s numbers which is the greatest measure of how successful we are as a club. Congratulations to Jamie Alpen U13B and Myron Chatman U17B and their teams and supporters for taking out premierships in their respective age divisions. The fact that no one player in either team featured heavily in the Player of the Year Awards goes to show what an amazing team effort both results are. The other team I would like congratulate is the U11A Maroon side who took on the challenge of playing up a division when the association forced our hand at late notice into registering two A sides. I know Jason, Troy and Gamal did a great job with this side and their attitude in confronting the challenge will hold the kids in good stead in the future. The club cannot run without a dedicated team of volunteers. First of all I’d like to thank the committee who have enabled the club to function smoothly. A special thanks to Kaye Kelly in her final year as Secretary. I’m not sure how we will function without her in the role and her ability to get things done coupled with her cheerful demeanour. Veteran treasurer Len Bombas continues to amaze, Dave Giltinan has been heavily involved in ensuring our gear and the man cave at Duffy’s is organised and attending delegates meetings, Katrina Porter for recording and registering all players and battling with the mycricket system and Misha Charrett, Greg Hollins, Paul Peters, Sue Toohey and Jason Ashton for all your numerous efforts. A big thanks to John Toohey for putting together this professional looking year book. I would also like to acknowledge the contribution of Paul Mills for his coaching assistance to the majority of our sides and the newsletters which were so well received. Congratulations and thanks must go to our coaches who dedicate their summer Saturdays to making sure the kids have the best possible opportunity, to our managers who keep things ticking along, scorers, score recorders and everyone who helps the team-a big thank you! But most of all to our young players, all of whom have represented Terrigal Matcham with pride and professionalism- thank you for participating, I hope you have enjoyed your season and that you will return next year. I attended the seniors presentation recently and it was great to see a generation of young players not long out of the junior ranks doing so well. We will continue to play our part in producing players who love the game and wish to continue on into Terrigal Matcham seniors regardless of ability. I know our small part in the framework of cricket in this country is recognised and this why our national teams are so successful. Michael Clarke and Meg Lanning both started in junior clubs like ours. I would also like to add my thanks to our sponsors Peter Steele at Mitre10 Kincumber and Ken Pearson and the staff at Breakers - for their continued and valued support. Please continue to support them. I hope all the players have an enjoyable off season with their winter sports and activities. We look forward to seeing you all again next season. Yours in cricket Steve Dignam Page 2 Juniors Yearbook 2014-2015 Season Grand Final Reports U13A’s Semi Final After the completion of the competition rounds we were placed third on the ladder.
