Camp Directors Jimboy and Margaret Miller: Directors/Owners [email protected] [email protected] Libby Miller: Senior Director Laura Hollowell: June, Main, and August Camp Director [email protected] Ellen-Anne Skelton: Program Director [email protected] Sarah Brown: Head Counselor [email protected] Katie Miller Grant: Junior Camp Director [email protected] Smith Houts: Junior Camp Assistant Director [email protected] Kelly Pinkley: Junior Camp Assistant Director [email protected] 1 General Information BIRTHDAYS A camper’s birthday is very special! Campers celebrate with a cabin party and a Birthday Ball celebration. For birthdays, you may send birthday cards, letters, and ONE birthday package (no food) from the parents. It should be addressed to Laura Hollowell. (See the No Package Policy on page 8.) PENPALS In the springtime you will receive a card with the name of your daughter’s Penpal. Encourage your camper to write her Penpal; it is disappointing when a Penpal does not write. Request for your camper’s Penpal to be in her cabin (on your Cabin Request Form) if that is important to you. We do not automatically put your camper’s Penpal in the cabin. Try writing a 2nd time, if you have not heard from your Penpal. In addition to a Penpal, all 3rd, 4th, and some 5th graders at Main Camp will receive a “Big Sister” in the spring. Main Camp 9th - 11th graders don’t have a Penpal. CABIN ASSIGNMENTS We encourage campers to attend without concern for cabin requests, but we will make every effort to place your daughter with ONE special requested friend, IF that friend also requests her. 2 Please understand that clear communication with your requested friend is very important. If you do not think it best to be with a camper who is requesting your daughter, be honest with the parents involved. Such difficult conversations are easier before camp. Cabin requests are not confidential. We place girls in the cabin with other campers in their same grade. If space requires us to have a cabin with two grades in it, then we will consider double requests from girls who are one grade apart only. Please do not assume that we know your request already. If your girls are twins, please let us know if they are requesting to be together. If you have questions about cabin requests, please contact: Junior camp - [email protected] June, Main and August - [email protected] If you would like to request someone, please fill out the Cabin Request form before the deadline. Feel free to not request anyone….meeting new people is the best part of camp! We do not allow bunk saving at camp – first come, first served on Opening Day. You will find out your daughter’s cabin assignment when she arrives on Opening Day (not before). Need More Information? Please visit the Parents section of our website. 3 NO VISITOR POLICY Greystone has a No Visitor Policy that applies to all of our camp sessions. This policy includes trips out of camp with parents/friends; these are not allowed. We recommend parents visit camp on Opening and Closing days to tour camp. Greystone will be closed to visitors between sessions, as we prepare for Opening Day. We do still love giving tours to prospective camp families - tell your friends! Required travel during camp? Any campers with required travel that occurs during camp must be pre- approved prior to Opening Day. Please e-mail [email protected]. EARLY BIRD ENROLLMENT New this year! Early Bird Enrollments for our 2016 sessions will open for ALL 2015 campers (who are in good standing) on Monday, August 10th. We will send you a letter and a series of emails as we enter the Early Bird time frame; we do not want there to be any misunderstandings. You must complete this registration prior to Monday, August 24th in order to be guaranteed a spot in the session of your choice. It is normal for camp to fill during the Early Bird Enrollment, so it is very important that you not delay in registering. Your deposit is fully refundable until November 1st, so consider this to be a no risk decision! 4 PERSONAL ALLOWANCE The Personal Allowance account is designed to cover any extra expense a camper incurs while at Greystone. For all sessions, you will need to print the Personal Allowance sheet from your Online Forms and mail it back with a check made payable to the Greystone Store. Please do not include your daughter’s Personal Allowance with her activities or tuition payment. Suggested amounts: Junior: $75, June: $125, Main: $175, August: $100 The Greystone Store is online at www.thegreystonestore.com. We encourage you to buy clothing and larger items prior to camp. Use your Greystone Account login to sign in. Main campers: For campers who have attended Greystone for 5 years (3 of those at Main), you can buy a ring or charm. You must place your order with The Greystone Store NO LATER THAN May 1, 2015. Please fill out your Online Form to place your ring or charm order. Main campers: Some program areas create fun department t-shirts, which your daughter has the option to buy. These t-shirts come out of her Store account, and we cannot overcharge her account to purchase them. ELECTRONICS/VALUABLES We do not allow electronic items, including cell phones, IPOD’s, DVD players, Wi-Fi Devices, e-readers, iPads, etc. If brought to camp, these items will be placed in our safe on Opening Day. Digital cameras without Internet capabilities are allowed. Please do not bring any valuables to camp! 5 LABELING POSSESSIONS Please label everything you send to camp (see pg. 25). Write your daughter’s last name and first initial in everything including cameras, shoes, socks, underwear, Bible, etc. LAUNDRY Your daughter’s laundry is washed, dried, and folded for your daughter while she is at camp. Please send clothing of a simple nature that will look neat with a tumble-dry process, colors and whites mixed together. Please label your things! Number of times your daughter’s clothes will be washed: Junior camp: no laundry service, due to short session June camp: 2 times Main camp: 4 times August camp: 1 time Girls must change sheets once during the June and Main camp sessions. There is an optional sheet change on Sundays at all of our sessions. We provide sheets for all campers; however, if you would like to use personal sheets, please send more than one set for sheet changing. Need More Information? Please visit the Parents section of our website. 6 Communication LETTERS & FAXES Letters: We strongly encourage you to send hand-written letters. Since “snail mail” takes time, send letters before camp (we add the cabin number). We have mail bins on the office porch on Opening Day, to leave mail for the first few days of camp.
